The paper "The role of orographic effects on heavy rainfall event over central Vietnam in October 2021" use observation data and high-resolution (3 km) simulations from the WRF model, driven by FNL data, to investigate the causes of heavy rain over Central Vietnam from 22nd to 29th October 2021. Our findings confirm the significant role of topography in causing heavy rain. In terms of the atmosphere’s vertical structure, the surface’s northeast wind, almost perpendicular to the Central region’s topography, combined with the east wind and trade winds above, caused strong convection.

In this study, a logistic regression model is developed to forecast tropical storm (TS) genesis in the Vietnam East Sea from 2012 to 2019. The model incorporates seven potential predictors including dynamic and thermodynamic parameters at formation time retrieved from the WRF-LETKF outputs.

The results show that the Belts–Millers–Janjic convection diagram and the WSM6 microphysics diagrams are suitable in the simulation of storm Damrey. Therefore, in this study, we apply multiphysics technique in combinatorial Kalman filter to determine the error of WRF model predicting the trajectory and intensity of storm Damrey 2017.

This article investigates the capability of the applicability of numerical WRF model to forecast weather at 48 hours for the Southern Region Viet Nam in the rainy and dry seasons in 2021 (12/2020 - 11/2021). The WRF model shows that predicted maximum temperature, minimum temperature and rainfall are lower than measured values.

In this study, the WRF model is used to investigate the role of Central Vietnam terrain on occurrence of the heavy rainfall event in November 1999 over Central Vietnam. Two model experiments with and without terrain were performed to examine the orographic blocking effects during the event.

In this work, we review various PhCs detected in water treatment plants. We propose that fungi, particularly white-rot fungi (WRF), can be used for their bioremediation and describe the main mechanisms used for degrading this type of emerging pollutants; however, we also highlight the need to prospect for new fungal models.

Weather Research and Forecast model (WRF) was coupled with Comprehensive Air Quality Model with Extensions (CAMx), and found that regional transport contributed significantly to PM2.5 pollution in Zhangjiakou (74.6%). The results of this study indicate that joint prevention and control of regional air pollution would meaningfully improve air quality in the BTH region.

This study presents an hourly updated assimilation and model forecast system (Rapid Refresh - RAP) designed for rainfall nowcasting at Ho Chi Minh city (named HCM-RAP). The HCM-RAP implemented the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, driven by Global Forecast System (GFS) data at horizontal resolution of 0.25x0.25 degree, in combination with rapid update of radar data at Nha Be station.

In urban areas, flooding can be very serious due to high population density and important infrastructure. As rainfall data at high temporal and spatial resolutions are required as input for urban flooding forecast, in this study, the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) with four nests, two-way interaction is used to simulate the heavy rainfall event in Hanoi from 30/10/2008 - 01/11/2008 to investigate model ability on generating rainfall data on high temporal and spatial resolutions.

Typhoon-induced disasters including storm surge and high wave are obvious threats to coastal areas in Vietnam. Thus, many researchers have paid their attention to this issue. The approaching methods are varied, including statistical methods and also numerical methods. This study suggests the coupled models Delft3D-FLOW and WAVE, using the meteorological output data from the Weather Research Forecast (WRF) for investigating the typhoon induced disasters in the coastal areas in Viet Nam.

Land cover classification is one of the main components of the modern weather research and forecasting models, which can influence the meteorological variable, and in turn the concentration of air pollutants . In this study the impact of using two traditional land use classifications, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), were evaluated. The Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF, version 3.2.1) was run for the period 18 - 22 August, 2014 (dry season) at a grid spacing of 3 km centered on the city of Manaus.
