Development of wheat cultivars with multiple disease resistance and high quality are major objectives in modern wheat breeding programs. Gene stacking is an efficient approach to achieve this target. In this study, we pyramided yellow rust resistance gene (Yr26), powdery mildew resistance gene (ML91260) and highmolecular-weight glutenin subunits Dx5 + Dy10 into the dwarf mutant of an elite wheat cultivar, Xiaoyan22.

Transcriptomics is being increasingly applied to generate new insight into the interactions between plants and their pathogens. For the wheat yellow (stripe) rust pathogen (Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici, Pst) RNAbased sequencing (RNA-Seq) has proved particularly valuable, overcoming the barriers associated with its obligate biotrophic nature.

Stripe rust (yellow rust) is a significant disease for bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) worldwide. A genome-wide association study was conducted on 240 Chinese wheat cultivars and elite lines genotyped with the wheat 90 K single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays to decipher the genetic architecture of stripe rust resistance in Chinese germplasm.

Stripe or yellow rust of wheat, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. Tritici (Pst), is an important disease in many wheat-growing regions of the world. Although, the pathogen has overcome resistance offered by more than 90 genes and QTLs still, aggregation of resistant genes in future wheat genotypes is the most practical and efficient means of tackling the rapidly evolving virulent races of Pst.

Powdery mildew and Rust are major diseases of pea of worldwide distribution. Powdery mildew and Rust is an airborne disease. Powdery mildew is a particularly damaging in late sowing or in late maturity varieties. It is caused by Erysisphe pisi. The disease can cause 20-50% yield losses, reducing total yield biomass, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, plant height and number of nodes. The disease also affects green pea quality. Pea rust is characterized by the appearance of two types of symptoms.

Biotic and abiotic stresses are major constraints in the production of groundnut. Among biotic stresses apart from bacterial and viral diseases, many fungal diseases are of economic importance. The major fungal diseases are Early leaf spot (Cercospora arachidicola), Late leaf spot (Cercosporidium personatum), Rust (Puccinia arachidis), Botrytis blight (Botrytis cinera), Aflarot/Yellow mould (Aspergillus flavus), Damping off (Pythium spp.

Stripe rust (also called yellow rust) is a common and serious fungal disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici. The narrow genetic basis of modern wheat cultivars and rapid evolution of the rust pathogen have been responsible for periodic and devastating epidemics of wheat rust diseases.

Wheat production in temperate area is significantly affected by rust diseases, among which stripe (or yellow) rust caused by Puccinia striiformis Westend f. sp. tritici and leaf (or brown) rust caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks. is major threat to production. Non-progenitor Aegilops species with substantial amount of variability for stripe rust resistance genes has been exploited to a limited extent.

Genetic diversity assessment is necessary to help tackle the threats of environmental fluctuations and for the effective exploitation of genetic resources in breeding program. Recent advancement in the field of molecular markers has made the genetic characterization of genotypes rapid, reliable and reproducible. In the present investigation, we have characterized 49 wheat genotypes at molecular level using 52 SSR primers (including Yr specific primers). 27 polymorphic SSR markers were dispersed over the AABBDD wheat genome, a total of 102 alleles were detected with allele range of 1 to 6.
