Yield and competition indices

A field experiment was carried out using two varieties of pea (Rachna and local cultivar Makhyatmubi) and one Indian mustard (NRCHB 101)intercropping systems to determine the competition among these and economics of each intercropping system. The intercropping systems were assessed on the basis of existing competition and economic indices such as land equivalent ratio (LER), relative crowding coefficient, aggressivity, competitive ratio (CR), relative crowding coefficient (RCC) and monetary advantage index (MAI).

The proliferation of food, feed and biofuels demands promises to increase pressure on water competition and stress, particularly for India, which has a large agricultural base. So Water Footprint (WF) has been widely spread as an indicator that contributes to a safe and sustainable use of water. The purpose of this study was to determine the WF of different paddy varieties and to search the best paddy variety which can give more yield with less water.

Forage mixtures are common agricultural practices for the energy and protein needs of animals. In this study, common vetch (Vicia sativa L.), Hungarian vetch (Vicia pannonica L.), and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) mixtures in different seeding rates were investigated in terms of forage yield and quality.
