This study aimed to extract and evaluate some properties and the capability of phenolic components from shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) peels for usage as fish preservative. It was found that shallot peels extracted twice with 70 % ethanol solvent, within 60 minutes, at 60 oC and the ratio of solid/liquid 1/20 (g/mL) gave highest polyphenol and flavonoid yields. Total polyphenol content and total flavonoid content of the extract were 224.34±5.66 mg GAE/g DW and 255.11±4.35 mg QE/g DW, respectively.

In this study poly (4-nitrophenylazo-3-aminopyridine - formaldehyde) (PNAAP-F) and poly (4-nitroarylazo-3-chloro-6- hydroxypyridine - formaldehyde) (NAACHP-F) were synthesized via diazotization, coupling and polycondensation reactions. The structural properties of the as-synthesized dyes were acquired using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and UV-visible absorption maxima and their color, yield, melting point, solubility, and viscosity were determined via standard methods.

The three-component reaction of benzoic acid derivatives, (N -isocyanimino)triphenylphosphorane, and trichloroacetyl isocyanate in a 1:1:1 ratio in CH3 CN occurred at room temperature, and the 5-aryl-N -(trichloroacetyl)- 1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-carboxamide derivatives produced were formed in high yields. The reaction proceeded smoothly and cleanly under mild reaction conditions and no side reactions were observed. The structures of the products were confirmed by IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, mass spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.

A simple and efficient one-pot synthesis of novel thieno[3’,2’:5,6]pyrimido[1,2-a]quinoline-2-carboxylates (5a– d) and their spirooxindole derivatives (12a–d) was accomplished. Thus, the Michael addition reaction of the cyclic β-enaminone 3 with the corresponding α, β-unsaturated nitrile derivatives 4a–d in refluxing EtOH in the presence of piperidine afforded 5a–d in good yields. On the other hand, spirooxindole derivatives 12a–d were synthesized by the reaction of cyclic β-enaminone 3 with the corresponding 3-cyanomethylidene-2-oxoindoles 11a–d in refluxing EtOH.
