In this study, we reported a facile synthesis and the characterization of PMMA-grafted ZrO2 hybrid nanoparticles from original ZrO2 (oZrO2) nanoparticles. The synthesis process included of three steps: (i) modification of nano ZrO2 with a vinyl silane agent, (ii) graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomers and modified ZrO2 (mZrO2) nanoparticles, and (iii) extraction of homo PMMA to obtain the final product of PMMA-g-ZrO2 (gZrO2) nanoparticles.

In this continuity, the potentiality of D. citrea essential oil was subjected to screening research. The extract yield was obtained experimentally and its chemical characterization was acquired by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The determined data was subjected as the input for computational implementations, including density functional theory calculation, molecular docking simulation, and biopharma-potential predicting analyses.

This study was designed to extract a high yield of polysaccharides from the M. smilacifolium trunk and characterize it. As a result, the maximum yield of the polysaccharides of 5.13 ± 0.05% was obtained with an extraction time of three hours, extraction temperature of 100 oC, the ratio of water to sample of 1:50 as extraction solution, extraction number of times 3, and the ratio of ethanol to extract volume 5:1 (v/v).

These reactions involved a condensation reaction of aromatic benzaldehydes, 5,5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione, and dicyanomethane in a solvent mixture of ethanol and water, resulting in the desired products in moderate to good yields. The procedure is efficient and eco-friendly, and the products can be easily obtained by recrystallisation. Thus, this protocol offers an alternative to existing methods.

Known 1,6-di(thiophen-2-yl)hexane-1,6-dione (2) and novel 1,7-di(thiophen-2-yl)heptane-1,7-dione (4) were obtained from the reactions of thiophene with the corresponding diacyl chlorides. Furthermore, compounds with furan and pyrrole units in place of thiophene units in compound 2 were obtained in the same way. Bromination of 2 and 4 gave bromides regioselectively. The reaction of each of the compounds 2 and 4 in HOAc medium yielded cyclocondensation products. In total, four known and eleven novel compounds were synthesized.

The cross-linked microbeads with average diameter of 106–300 μm, [poly(EGDMA-MATrp)], were obtained by copolymerization reaction of N-methacryloyl-L-(+)-tryptophan methyl ester (MATrp) with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) and successfully applied as a heterogeneous catalyst in conjugate addition reaction of nitromethane to substituted 2-iminochromenes in aqueous media. A variety of 2-amino-4-(nitromethyl)-4H-chromene-3-carbonitriles has been synthesized in good yields. Polymeric microbeads were very durable and reused 5 times without a significant loss of activity.

Weed identification helps ensure crop yield and realize precision agriculture. Although the deep learning-based methods have achieved high performance, their needed large-scale annotated data is difficult to obtain, and the massive parameters lead to difficulties in model deployment in embedded applications. To develop efficient crop weeds classification system, we propose a dissimilarity-based method to select few but representative samples and consider data diversity.

Production of inulin from yam bean tubers by ultrasonic assisted extraction (UAE) was optimized by using response surface methodology (RSM) and genetic algorithms (GA). Yield of inulin was obtained between 11.97%–12.15% for UAE and 11.21%–11.38% for microwave assisted extraction (MAE) using both the methodologies, significantly higher than conventional method (9.9 %) using optimized conditions.

Knowledge of heat flow density on the Earth’s surface and subsurface temperature distribution is essential for the interpretation of several processes in the crust such as for the evaluation of the geothermal potential of a region. With this study, we investigate the conductive heat flow distribution in western Anatolia to understand the thermal state and its relationship to regional tectonics in the region. The new heat flow data are collected and combined with previously published data to obtain the new heat flow map of western Anatolia.
