The present study was undertaken to evaluate the yield gap through CFLDs on blackgram by the active participation of farmers with the objective to harness maximum potential of crops by demonstrating the improved technologies. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hamirpur (H.P.) conducted 88 demonstrations on blackgram (Vigna mungo L., Fabaceae) in 16.7 ha area during kharif 2016 and 2017 in different villages of district Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Prevailing farmers‟ practices were treated as control for comparison with recommended practices.

Field experiment was conducted to find out the influence of foliar nutrition on growth and seed yield of pulse crop during rabi 2013-14. The experiment was laid out in split plot design and replicated thrice. The pulse crop viz., blackgram, greengram, cowpea and horse gram were tried as treatments under main plot. Foliar nutrient sprays viz., 2 % DAP, 1 % KCL, 1% boron, 1 % MgSO4, 1 % ZnSO4 and without foliar spray were fitted under sub plot. Foliar spray treatment with the aqueous solution of nutrients was done on 30 and 45 DAS of pulse crop.

In recent years, the use of fermented cow dung, cow urine, cow ghee, cow curd and cow milk with the name of panchagavya is getting adaptive popularity in Indian agriculture largely through the efforts of small groups of farmers. Panchagavya has got reference in the scripts of Vedas (divine scripts of Indian wisdom) and Vrikshayurveda (Natarajan, 2002). Panchagavya, an organic product has potential to play the role in promoting growth and providing immunity in plant system. In this study, Yellow mosaic resistant, TBG-104, a new variety of blackgram is considered which showed a higher yield gap between potential yield given by the breeder and the actual yield realized in the farmers‟ fields during rabi season. Surprisingly, on an average 1.5 folds more yield is observed in the famers‟ fields. A random sample of fifty-two farmers who cultivate TBG-104 was selected from three districts of Southern Zone of Andhra Pradesh and their fields are monitored from sowing to harvesting and data is collected on six factors.
