Yield parameters in cucumber

The present study was carried out at Horticulture Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut during 2018. Total ten treatments were tried in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and quality of Cucumber.

The effect of cow-urine and bio-fertilizers based fertigation schedule was studied at varying levels of drip irrigation on various cucumber parameters in a naturally ventilated polyhouse during summer season. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with 11 treatments and 3 replication comprising of two drip irrigation levels viz., I2(IW/CPE= 0.4) and I4 (IW/CPE = 0.8), five fertigation levels and one farmers’ practice.

Fifty-six diverse genotypes of cucumber collected from different indigenous sources were planted in randomized block design, during kharif season at Kittur Rani Chennamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, Belagavi district (Karnataka), India. Genetic diversity study using Mahalanobis’s D2 statistics with Tocher’s method, 56 cucumber genotypes were grouped into ten clusters, cluster I was the largest having 26 genotypes followed by cluster III (10 genotypes) followed by cluster II (six genotypes).

Research results indicated significant variation in all the vegetative growth attributes and yield parameters in different drip irrigation and mulches. The maximum number of branches per vine, length of vine, number of leaves per vine and leaf area were recorded with 1.0 ETc as compared to other drip irrigation treatments at 60, 90 DAT and harvest. However, in respect to earliness i.e. days to first flowering, fruiting and harvesting were also observed with the treatment 1.0 ETc.

An investigation was conducted to study the effect of different plant growth regulators on growth and flowering of cucumber cv. Malini under shade net conditions. The experiment was carried out with 10 treatments GA3 at 75, 150 and 250 ppm, Ethrel at 100, 200 and 300 ppm, Salicylic acid at 75, 150 and 250 ppm and control (water spray) in three replications. The experiment was conducted at College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) grown under protected condition. It was laid out in Randomized Block Design comprising of thirteen treatments replicated thrice. The experiment was conducted during the off season with gynoecious hybrid variety KSP-1301. Integration of inorganic fertilizers, organic manures and biofertilizers has increased the efficacy of the nutrients in the soil.
