  • An experiment on effect of bunch load on berry quality, yield, raisin recovery and biochemical parameters in Thompson Seedless grapes grafted on 110-R rootstock was carried out in ICAR National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune during 2015- 16. The crop load was adjusted to 50, 75, 100 and 125 bunches per vine. Increase in number of bunches/vine reduced the leaf area index. Highest LAI (1.24) was observed in treatment with 50 bunches/vine.

  • The present investigation was carried out involving thirty hybrids which were derived by crossing ten lines with three testers. These hybrids were evaluated along with their parents in randomized block design (RBD) with three replications. The recorded data was subjected to Line × Tester analysis. The analysis of variance for combining ability revealed that the mean sum of squares due to parents and hybrids were highly significant for almost all the characters except for days required to 50% pistillate flowering, vine length, number of primary branches per plant and internodal length.

  • The present investigations were carried out to estimate the genetic components of variation for yield and its contributing traits in sponge gourd. Genetic components D^ , H^ 1 and H^ 2 were significant for days to first male flower anthesis, node number of first male flower, days to first female flower anthesis, node number of first female flower, fruit length, fruit weight, number of fruits per plant, main vine length and total yield except D^ in case of number of primary branches which indicate the importance of both additive and dominant gene effects in regulating these traits.

  • The present experiment was carried out to assess the degree of association of yield with its components, because yield is not an independent character and it is resultant of interaction of a number of component characters. Correlation provides information on the nature and extent of association between characters in a population. Most of the traits have shown significant correlation as revealed by the association study.
