  • Nowadays, Totem-pole PFC power factor correction converters are widely used in many fields, notably in electric vehicle charging stations because of their ability to transmit power in bidirectional. The principle of this converter is similar to the traditional Boost PFC topology, which does not include a bridge rectifier, so the performance is significantly improved.

  • We present new results for the theoretical prediction of doubly-polarized cross sections of W Z events at the LHC using leptonic decays. Compared to the previous studies, two new kinematic cuts are considered. These cuts are designed to enhance the doubly-longitudinal (LL) polarization and, at the same time, study the Radiation Amplitude Zero effect.

  • This cross-sectional cohort study assessed the inequalities in oesophageal carcinoma risk by age, sex and nativity in Kuwait: 1980–2019. Methods Using oesophageal cancer incidence data from the Kuwait National Cancer Registry, relevant Kuwaiti population data and World Standard Population as a reference, age-standardized incidence rates (ASIR) (per 100,000 person-years) overall and by subcohorts were computed.

  • Normally, the microwave cavity filter is cast and gilded, which causes a fixed transmission zero point. Thus, the specifications of the filter cannot be turned during its operation. A novel enhancement capacitive crosscoupling structure is proposed to fabricate a microwave cavity filter with a turnable transmission zero point.

  • A correlated sampling technique has been implemented to estimate the impact of cross section modifications on the neutron transport and in Monte Carlo simulations in one single calculation. This implementation has been coupled to a Total Monte Carlo approach which consists in propagating nuclear data uncertainties with random cross section files.

  • Instead of running hundreds or thousands of neutronics calculations, we therefore investigate the possibility to take those many cross-section file samples and perform ‘cheap’ sensitivity perturbation calculations. This is efficiently possible with the NEA Nuclear Data Sensitivity Tool (NDaST) and this process we name the half Monte Carlo method (HMM).

  • Paracetamol (PAR), Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride (PSE) and cetirizine dihydrochloride (CET) is a ternary mixture that composes tablets which are popular for the relief of fu in Egypt. The spectra of the drugs were overlapped and no spectrophotometric methods were reported to resolve the mixture.

  • Successful interspecific hybrids were obtained when we crossed the cultivated soybean with wild annual Glycine soja. Although the success rate was low, whereas, the success rate was zero in case of wild perennial G. tomentella. Probably there is need to improve our crossability skills. Alternately, embryo rescue technique may be employed to recover the hybrids between cultivated soybean and wild perennial species. The hybridity between cultivated and wild annual soybean (Glycine soja) hybrids was confirmed at morphological and molecular level.

  • An experiment was laid out in a randomized block design (RBD) with three replications to evaluate genetic diversity of 12 varieties of marigold using Multivariate genetic divergence analysis (Mahalanobis, 1936). Based on D2 values, all the 12 marigold varieties were grouped into two clusters. Cluster I consisted of 11 varieties, viz., Pusa Narangi Gainda, Pusa Basanti Gainda, Pusa Arpita, Hajo Orange, Mumbai Orange, Hajo Yellow, Sunrise Orange, Hawaii Orange, Calcutta Orange, Calcutta Yellow, Yellow Babuda; while cluster II consisted of only Seracole.

  • In this paper, we refer to Wang’s method for ranking DMUs but argue that his way of selecting the weights is not the appropriate one. Namely, in the cross-efficiency evaluation of DMUs, we always search for the weights which use minimum resources to increase the production.

  • The main objective of the present paper is to study the transverse vibration of the prestressed beams. The differential equation of the transverse vibration of the Euler-Bernoulli beam is developed, in which the initial axial strain in every cross section of the beam is taken into account, so that the initial normal stress is not equal to zero. We have proposed some formulae to determine the natural frequencies of the prestressed beam.

  • Many different metrics exist for evaluating parsing results, including Viterbi, Crossing Brackets Rate, Zero Crossing Brackets Rate, and several others. However, most parsing algorithms, including the Viterbi algorithm, attempt to optimize the same metric, namely the probability of getting the correct labelled tree. By choosing a parsing algorithm appropriate for the evaluation metric, better performance can be achieved.

  • We present an ILP-based model of zero anaphora detection and resolution that builds on the joint determination of anaphoricity and coreference model proposed by Denis and Baldridge (2007), but revises it and extends it into a three-way ILP problem also incorporating subject detection. We show that this new model outperforms several baselines and competing models, as well as a direct translation of the Denis / Baldridge model, for both Italian and Japanese zero anaphora.

  • Analyzing monthly return data on more than 2500 unique U.S. equity funds over the period 1984–2003, we show that the average return gap is close to zero. In particular, the equally weighted return gap for all mutual funds in our sample equals 1.1 basis points per month, while the value- weighted return gap equals −1.0 basis points per month. These results indicate that the magnitude of unobserved actions is relatively small in the aggregate. Thus, fund managers’ trades in the aggregate create sufficient value to offset trading costs and other hidden costs of fund management.

  • An economy’s trade patterns create one channel for the cross-border transmission of shocks. While the average economy in our data had a current account very close to zero in 2007, the range is quite large. Trade openness, measured by the ratio of the sum of exports plus imports to GDP, captures the importance of trade. The average in our data is 98% of GDP, but the standard deviation of 66 percentage points implies a wide distribution. Finally, a country’s natural endowment may play a role in its macroeconomic performance.

  • Some previous studies have looked at whether the structure of the mortgage market plays a role in the propagation of monetary policy shocks. Calza et al (2009) and Assenmacher-Wesche and Gerlach (2010) nd that higher mortgage market development amplies the effects of monetary policy shocks on housing variables. Both studies estimate panel VARs across two groups of countries, classied according to their degree of mortgage market development using various cross-sectional indicators. Our approach is similar to theirs but differs in three important ways.

  • We show that unital simple C ∗ -algebras with tracial topological rank zero which are locally approximated by subhomogeneous C ∗ -algebras can be classified by their ordered K-theory. We apply this classification result to show that certain simple crossed products are isomorphic if they have the same ordered K-theory. In particular, irrational higher dimensional noncommutative tori of the form C(Tk ) ×θ Z are in fact inductive limits of circle algebras. Introduction In recent years there has been rapid progress in classification of nuclear simple C ...
