Diverse stresses including genotoxic therapy can induce proliferating cancer cells to undergo cellular senescence and take on the characteristic phenotypes of replicative cellular aging. This accelerated or therapyinduced senescence has been alternatively proposed to contribute to therapeutic efficacy or resistance.
