The study was conducted on 200 Gram Panchayat members in 38 Gram Panchayats of Imphal-East and Bishnupur districts of Manipur. Proportionate random sampling method was followed for selection of the respondents. Interview schedule was the main tools used in the present study to collect data from the respondents. For this purpose the Socioeconomic Status scale-Rural constructed and standardized by Pareek and Trivedi (1964) was used.
