Assessment of genetic variability in prolactin gene and its impact on milk composition in Bos Indicus cattle

Association analysis revealed the presence of significant association between genetic variability in prolactin gene and milk protein content with no impact on other milk constituents. The present study concluded that heterozygotes genotypes for PRL exon-3 region were favored in studied Bos indicus breeds to produce milk containing higher amount of protein.
