They have a long history of fighting against foreign invaders, such as China and France. This has made them very protective of their culture and traditions. One of the most important traditions is Tet, the Lunar New Year. It takes place in January or February. The whole country stops working for a week to celebrate. People visit their families and give each other lucky money in red envelopes. They also clean their houses to get rid of bad luck from the old year. There are many delicious foods to eat at Tet, such as "banh chung", which is sticky rice with pork inside, wrapped in “dong” leaves. Another important tradition is ancestor worship. Vietnamese people believe that when someone dies, their soul lives on and can protect the family. They have an altar in their house where they put pictures of their ancestors. Some people say that a place of interest is a place famous for its scenery or a well-known historical site. I don’t think it has to be so limited. In my opinion, a place of interest is simply one that people like going to. In my town, the park is an attraction because many people love spending time there. Old people do exercise and walk in the park. Children play games there while their parents sit and talk with each other. Another place of interest in my town is Hoa Binh market. It’s a traditional market with a lot of things to see. I love to go there to buy food and clothes, and watch other people buying and selling. Foreign tourists also like this market because they can experience the culture of Vietnamese people, and buy woven cloth and other handicrafts as souvenirs. 1. The writer thinks that a place of interest is a place famous for its scenery. 2. The writer thinks that a place of interest is a place people like going to. 3. Practical stress management can help students deal with their worries and become more productive, competent and efficient. First of all, students must be able to design and stick to a timetable. Choose a relaxing break between work and study, even if it’s just taking out time to breathe. In addition, a healthy lifestyle is essential for students. Let’s drink more water as well as take out time to get some air and exercise. Furthermore, organization is very important in academic life for dealing with stress. By keeping academic notes organized, turning in assignments on time, and keeping track of all deadlines, stress can be reduced to a great extent. Stress can also get worse if a person feels lonely. Therefore, by letting out all your thoughts to someone you trust, you immediately feel a lot better. However, if you feel extremely stressed out, take a break and do something you love. Whether it is painting or listening to music, doing something you enjoy can cheer up your mood and distract you from a stressor. It’s about time that we students accept that we can achieve just as much in life without all the stress. 1. Practical stress management can help students . a. deal with stress b. have more time c. face up to the worst situation d. think critically 2. What should students pay attention to when designing a timetable? 8
  9. a. They have to arrange time to breathe. b. They need to set time for relaxation. c. They don’t need to take notice of certain tasks. d. They should stop working and studying. 3.
