Fertility table parameters of predatory bug orius bifilarus ghauri (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) preying upon thrips palmi and eggs of corcyra cepholinica

The study was carried out to construct the life table and to study the age dependent reproduction of the predatory bug Orius bifilarus feeding on fictitious host, eggs of rice meal moth, Corcyra cephalonica (Stainton) (Lepidoptera: Galleriidae) and on its natural host, Thripspalmi Karny (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) (collected from cucumber) under controlled conditions (25 ± 1°C, 65 ± 5% RH). Themean durations of the pre, post and oviposition periods were 4.3, 1.4 and 14.2 days on C. cephalonica eggs and 4.1, 2.1 and 16.4 days on thrips, the difference being non-significant.
