Hypoglycemic efficacy of Catharanthus roseus and Opuntia ficusindica in mice diabetic model

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder of multiple etiologies characterized by absolute or relative deficiency of insulin secretion with or without varying degree of insulin resistance. Sedentary life style and obesity are two major epidemiological determinants of diabetes mellitus. In the present investigation hypoglycemic efficacy of methanol extract of Catharanthus roseus (Nayantara) of Apocyanaceae and Opuntia ficusindica of Cactaceae was tested on STZ induced mice diabetic models.
