Inducible and plasmid mediated AmpC beta-lactamase among klebsiella pneumoniae in a tertiary care teaching hospital of south India

The incidence of AmpC beta-lactamase producing K. pneumoniae has been steadily increasing over past years and is of significant concern as they restrict therapeutic options and cause treatment failure. The objective of the present study was to know the occurrence of AmpC beta-lactamase producing K. pneumoniae and to create a baseline antibiotic resistance data to implement effective antibiotic policy.
