Past Continuous or Simple

Most of the tim e when we are talking about such actions, we use the past sim ple. This is by far the m ost com m on way about talking about the past. I lived there for six years. I only found out a few m om ent ago. I asked her but she didn’t know anything. The com pany m ade 100 people redundant last year.
