Replacement of inorganic zinc with various organic zinc sources on haematological constituents, antioxidant status, immune response and reproductive efficiency in rats

The present study was undertaken on 60 adult female Sprague Dawley rats (275±2.04 g) for an experimental duration of 84 days to evaluate various organic sources of zinc on immunity, reproduction, oxidative defense mechanism in rats. The rats were randomly allotted to 5 dietary treatments (6 replicates in each) prepared by varying the source of Zn supplementation (12 ppm) either from inorganic (Zn carbonate) or sources (Zn proteinate, Zn propionate, Zn amino acid complex and Zn methionine).
