Though one sixth of the global population resides in India, paradoxically, one third of about two billion people are suffering from vitamin and micronutrient deficiency in India due to heavy dependence on cereals grown in Zn- deficit soils. With the hypothesis that the residual Zn present in soil can also enhance the grain Zn content, a study was conducted with wheat variety ‘HD 2329’ to assess the grain concentrations of Zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe) and Phosphorus (P) grown on residual zinc in soils with divergent characteristics. Wheat crop was grown in the same pots on residual Zn fertility in which rice cultivars were grown with six Zn treatments in a completely randomised design (Factorial).
