Unit 10: Recycling Period 63: Lesson 3: Listen I. Objectives: -After the lesson Ss will be able to learn how to make a compost heap. -To drill Ss listening skill. II.Teaching aids Tape, cassette, Textbook + picture + posters. III. Teaching procedure. 1. Class organization 2. Oral test Answer Ss to do the exercise 3 in the work book, ( p:60.) 3. New lesson
A. Warm up. - Ask Ss to list the items relate to the following things: + Paper: paper, old newspaper, books, card board boxes. + Glass: bottles, glasses, jars + Plastic: plastic bags, plastic bottles. + Vegetable matter: friutpeels, vegetables. + Fabric: clothes, pieces of material + Leather; shoes, sandals, school bags. -Ask Ss to read the things they list. - Write down and read them in chorus. B. Pre – listening. - Ask Ss to answer the questions: a. Have you ever seen a compost heap? b. Do you know how to make compost? Ask Ss to work in pairs to discuss about to make a compost heap.
- Introduce some new words: Compost heap: hầm ủ phân xanh Tea leaves: lá chè Egg shells: vỏ trứng Moisture: độ ẩm Condensation: sự ngưng tụ - Introduce the listening and ask Ss to listen to the tape to choose the correct answer. C. While- listening -Play the tape three times and ask Ss to tick the correct answer. -Ask Ss to work in pairs to tick the right answer and then share the answer with the partner. - Write the answer and read the answer. a) A, b) B, c) A, d) B. - Check the answer. D. Post- listening Ask Ss to arrange the step to make compost.
Put these phases in the prder of the compost- making process. 1. Use shovels to turn the compost. 2. Start a compost heap. 3. Water the compost. 4. Place in the garden. 5. Use as fertilizer. 6. Keep for six months. -Ask Ss to read aloud in front of the rest. E. Further practice. Ask Ss to give the past participle for these verbs. - make bring. - buy drink - do - begin send - tell give build. - know grow - throw take. Wear - find go - put see write. - Ask Ss to read aloud the verbs in chorus.
4. Consolidation Retell again the way to make the compost heap. 5. Home work Read again these participle and prepare the reading in the text book.( p 92)
