Having conquered water surfaces worldwide, the semi-aquatic bugs occupy ponds, streams, lakes, mangroves, and even open oceans. The diversity of this group has inspired a range of scientific studies from ecology and evolution to developmental genetics and hydrodynamics of fluid locomotion. However, the lack of a representative water strider genome hinders our ability to more thoroughly investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the processes of adaptation and diversification within this group.

TCP over wireless networks is challenging due to random losses and ACK interference. Although network coding schemes have been proposed to improve TCP robustness against extreme random losses, a critical problem still remains of DATA–ACK interference. To address this issue, we use inter-flow coding between DATA and ACK to reduce the number of transmissions among nodes. In addition, we also utilize a ‘‘pipeline’’ random linear coding scheme with adaptive redundancy to overcome high packet loss over unreliable links.

In this paper, we propose a bitrate adaptation algorithm at the client side in real time combined with a SDN-based dynamic path selection for HTTP-based video streaming. Experimental results show that the proposed method can provide users with better Quality of Experience (QoE) with lower number of rerouting times, higher average quality and smoother video quality than existing non-SDN methods under different scenarios of bandwidth fluctuations.

In this paper, we propose a quality optimization solution for variable bitrate (VBR) video streaming which allows components inside the network to select an appropriate version for each HAS client. The experiments in real-time conditions show that our method can provide each HAS client with the best possible quality while meeting the constraints of overall bandwidth and delay.

This paper presents an online bearing damage identifying method named ASBDIM based on ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System), Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) and sparse filtering. This is an online estimating process operated via two phases, offline and online one. In the offline period, by using SSA and sparse filtering, a database signed Off DaB is built whose inputs are features extracted from the measured data stream typed big data, while its outputs are values encoding the surveyed bearing damage statuses.
