Hormonal and herbal methods to induce estrus among anoestrus cattle under village condition were the subject of study. Animals with history of anoestrus or delayed post partum anoestrus (n=118) were administered Fenbendazole, 1.5 g (Panacur ® ) thereafter supplemented with 30 g mineral mixture (Agrimin forte® ) daily in feed throughout the period till and divided into 4 groups.

The present study was conducted on 18 healthy dogs of either sex weighing between 10-20 kg to evaluate the effects on various haematological and biochemical profile using ketamine alone and in combination with dexmedetomidine or butorphanol in atropinized dogs. The experimental work was divided into three groups K (ketamine), DK (dexmedetomidine-ketamine) and BK (butorphanol-ketamine). Atropine sulphate @ 0.04 mg/ kg intramuscularly was administered 15 minutes prior to treatment in all the groups of animals.

Type III Interferons also known as Interferon lambdas (IFNs/IFNLs) constitute a recently described IFN with antiviral activities by signaling through a unique receptor complex composed of IFNs receptor 1 (IFNR1) and interleukin-10 receptor 2 (IL10R2). It also found to have more of immune modulatory activities in addition to antiviral activities. In the present study, the construct pcDNA-bovine IFNλ3 was administered intramuscularly to mice. The mice were sacrificed on 7th and 14th day to collect the different organs/tissues.

Bio-enhancers such as piperine, curcumine, ginger and cow urine distillate are being seen as important adjuvant drugs to combat antimicrobial resistance and to increase efficiency of antimicrobial agents. Cow urine distillate is one of the important bio-enhancer easily available with farmer. The disposition kinetics was aimed to assess the pharmacokinetic alteration in profile of moxifloxacin, a third generation fluoroquinolone anti-microbial agent. Moxifloxacin was administered at the dose rate of 5 mg.

The efficiency of current synthetic agents in treating chronic liver disease is not satisfactory and they have undesirable side effects. The effects of crude phenol root extracts of Calotropis procera, petroleum spirit root extracts of Calotropis procera (PRECP, PSRECP) and livolin on liver function indices of ccl4 induced hepatotoxicity rats model was evaluated.

The combination of mifepristone (RU 486) and a prostaglandin analogue given either intramuscularly or intravaginally is effective in terminating early pregnancy, but the prostaglandin component of the regimen is cumbersome to administer and has side effects. We conducted two studies to determine the efficacy of 600 mg of mifepristone followed by a small dose of misoprostol, an orally active prostaglandin E1 analogue, for the same purpose.

Vitamin E Deficiency: Treatment Symptomatic vitamin E deficiency should be treated with 800–1200 mg of αtocopherol per day. Patients with abetalipoproteinemia may need as much as 5000–7000 mg/d. Children with symptomatic vitamin E deficiency should be treated with 400 mg/d orally of water-miscible esters; alternatively, 2 mg/kg per d may be administered intramuscularly. Vitamin E in high doses may protect against oxygen-induced retrolental fibroplasia and bronchopulmonary dysplasia, as well as intraventricular hemorrhage of prematurity.

Principles of Pharmacokinetics The processes of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion— collectively termed drug disposition—determine the concentration of drug delivered to target effector molecules. Absorption Bioavailability When a drug is administered orally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, rectally, sublingually, or directly into desired sites of action, the amount of drug actually entering the systemic circulation may be less than with the intravenous route (Fig. 5-2A ).
