  • This study was designed to screen the various adulterants in the market milk sold in the vicinity of Hyderabad district of Sindh province, Pakistan during the year 2013. A total of 100 milk samples were collected, each of twenty (n= 20) from milk producers (MP), milk collectors (MC), middlemen (MM), processors (P) and dairy shops (DS), were examined for various adulterants.

  • The milk samples (Raw and Boiled) were collected from various vendors of Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana district. Three different samples of Pasteurized milk samples were taken from the market. These samples were evaluated for their quality by determining Standard Plate Count (SPC) and Coliform count. The bacterial colonies ranged from 0.7×104 cfu/ml to 6×106 cfu/ml in boiled milk. Methylene Blue reduction test (MBRT) had also been performed to check microbial quality of the samples and Sample 1 (both raw and boiled) was reported to be poor.

  • The present investigation was conducted to assess the presence of adulterants and contaminants in market milk and raw milk around Varanasi city from branded, organized dairy farms and traditional vendors. The trial work has been approved out during the period of 1 February 2019 to 20 May 2019. Four milk samples were collected from each branded, organized dairy farm and traditional vendors milk centers 250- and 500-ml. quantity was collected and decontaminated throwaway plastic bottles with screw cap and each bottle was coded.

  • The study was undertaken with an objective to evaluate a rapid PCR based method for detection of adulteration of buffalo milk in cow milk at minimum level of detection. This method utilizes primers targeting the mitochondrial encoded 12S rRNA gene as the target for species identification. PCR assay involve use of three different primers. Reverse primers specific for cow and buffalo complementary to the gene fragment of 12S rRNA along with the common forward primer. The cow specific primer, along with the common forward primer, yields a cow specific amplicon of 346 bp in the 12S rRNA gene.
