Skin metastases from pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinoma (PNEC) are rare and their palliative treatment is challenging. We report our experience in the multimodal management of one of the few reported cases of metastatic PNEC with multiple visceral and subcutaneous secondary lesions, focusing on the effectiveness of palliative radiotherapy for skin metastases.

This approach isn't new. Economy has always been one of the core disciplines in Art and in Design. The Old Masters were masters of economy. Look at the brush strokes on an old painting, and you’ll see how much people achieved with so few strokes. It’s not that they didn’t have the talent, or the time, to do more strokes, it’s just that they knew that using as few strokes of the brush as possible to create the desired effect produces the best result. Using rougher strokes on areas like backgrounds or material on clothing helped the eye to focus on the finer detail. The same...

Why is there concern about the disappearance of Agriculture of the Middle? For the purposes of this report, the most important reason for concern about mid-sized poultry production operations and mid-sized processing facilities has to do with the lack of and increasing loss of infrastructure that impedes the growth of small scale producers who wish to scale up in production and processing. Another reason has to do with the role that these companies have played in the marketplace. Many innovations and much entrepreneurial activity originates from this sector of producers.

Traditionally, public transportation passenger cost savings were often the primary factors considered as the benefits of public transportation projects. This mindset has changed significantly and now it is widely accepted that public transportation investment can also help reduce roadway traffic congestion, with broader benefits for commercial truck deliveries, employer labor market access and on other aspects of business productivity.

Over the past three decades, considerable effort has been devoted to assessing the importance of spatial mismatch in determining racial and ethnic differences in employment outcomes. The hypothesis posits that persistent racial housing segregation in U.S. metropolitan areas coupled with the spatial decentralization of employment have left black and, to a lesser extent, Latino workers physically isolated from ever-important suburban employment centers.

The purpose of this research is twofold. First, the survey and publication establish the relative importance of small-business owner concerns and thereby a de facto issues priority list for NFIB. The organization uses this list to help prioritize advocacy efforts to best reflect the concerns of the membership. NFIB was founded on the principle that the membership governs. Policy positions are established by member vote rather than by committee or other means. Problems and Priorities is designed to help accomplish that objective.

We too believe that the global imbalances and the financial crisis are intimately connected, but we take a more nuanced stance on the nature of the connections. In our view, both originated primarily in economic policies followed in a number of countries in the 2000s (including the United States) and in distortions that influenced the transmission of these policies through U.S. and ultimately through global financial markets.

Although particle levels have declined substantially since the 1970s, particle pollution has shown no discernible trend over the last decade. The Air NEPM 1-day standard for PM10 is 50 µg/m3 and is not to be exceeded more than five times a year at any one site. The number of allowed exceedences takes into account bushfires and similar natural events and necessary bushfire hazard reduction burning. In 2001, exceedences occurred on 8 days in Sydney and 5 days in both the Lower Hunter and the Illawarra.

Notwithstanding persistent press reports to the contrary, there is no evidence that the Spanish al Qaeda cell, led by Barkat Yarkas and including al Qaeda European financier Mohammed Galeb Kalaje Zouaydi, provided any funding to support 9/11 or the Hamburg plotters. Zouaydi may have provided funds to Mamoun Darkazanli, who knew the Hamburg plotters as a result of being a member of the Hamburg Muslim community, but there is no evidence that he provided money to the plot participants or that any of his funds were used to support the plot.

Services to implementing agencies. The limited capacity of implementing agencies to mainstream gender-responsive approach- es sometimes constrains the success of Bank projects and programs. The Bank itself has a limited capacity to provide technical assistance to implementing agencies, but one region has successfully estab- lished technical service facilities that rely on part-time consultants to advise these agencies on integrating gender-responsive approaches into project implementation.

This system, designed in cooperation with the banking industry, is based on chipcard technology and corresponds to the electronic cash system above. The only difference is the possibility of offline authorisation. An authorisation up to a certain limit laid down individually by the issuing bank is stored on the bank card’s chip. This amount decreases with each payment and, as long as the remaining amount is sufficient, transactions are authorised offline. In order to pay, the customers must enter their PIN, which is validated on the chip.

Hours are assigned to courses to reflect the value of resources used to provide the class, such as rooms, instructors, equipment, etc. Equivalent hours are used in the registration process but revert to zero when posted to the student’s academic history. Example: A seminar with a visiting professor, over and above existing degree requirements. The benefit obtained is primarily to account for the resources provided, to use in reporting to governments, and in maintaining the students’ financial aid position....

Controlling Cancer in Developing Countries - Prevention and Treatment Strategies Merit Further Study
Monitoring for coverage, effectiveness, impact, usage (loss and wastage), and safety of vaccines should be planned and use existing systems as much as possible. Collection of coverage data can be challenging, and should include disaggregated data by dose and age at delivery site. Nominal registries may be useful for collecting coverage information and ensuring proper follow-up, but may require unique national identifiers. With appropriate technical support, vaccine impact evaluations may be done using HPV prevalence studies in certain settings.

This uncommon type of skin cancer develops from neuroendocrine cells (hormone-making cells that resemble nerve cells in some ways) in the skin. They are most often found on the head, neck, and arms but can start anywhere. These cancers are thought to be caused in part by sun exposure and in part by Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCV). About 8 out of 10 Merkel cell carcinomas are thought to be related to MCV infection. MCV is a common virus. Many people are infected with MCV, but it usually causes no symptoms. In a small portion of people with this infection,...
