Nghiên cứu này đã tiến hành chiết tách tinh dầu sả và khảo sát hiệu lực tiêu diệt, khả năng gây ngán ăn và ức chế sự sinh trưởng của tinh dầu sả đối với sâu tơ (Plutella xylostella L.). Kết quả trong nghiên cứu này cho thấy có tiềm năng diệt trừ và phòng chống sâu tơ hiệu quả của tinh dầu sả và sự kết hợp của tinh dầu sả với tinh dầu tỏi trong việc ức chế sự sinh trưởng và phát triển của loài sâu này.

Nghiên cứu "Hoạt tính diệt và xua đuổi muỗi vằn (Aedes aegypti) của tinh dầu quả hồ tiêu (Piper nigrum L.)" nhằm cung cấp cơ sở khoa học cho việc hướng tới sử dụng tinh dầu quả hồ tiêu trong kiểm soát, hạn chế sự phát triển và lây lan bệnh của muỗi vằn. Some populations of West African Aedes aegypti, the dengue and zika vector, are reproductively incompatible; our earlier study showed that divergence and rearrangements of genes on chromosome 1, which bears the sex locus (M), may be involved. We also previously described a proposed cryptic subspecies SenAae (PK10, Senegal) that had many more high inter-sex FST genes on chromosome 1 than did Ae.aegypti aegypti (Aaa, Pai Lom, Thailand). The current work more thoroughly explores the significance of those findings.

In Viet Nam, leaves of the plant are used to treat aching tendons, polio, and enteritis, while the roots are used for cough and malaria [31]. As part of our continuing efforts to identify readily-available essential oils for control of mosquitoes, we have assessed the essential oil from leaves of Vitex negundo (Table 1) growing in the wild in central Viet Nam for larvicidal action against Ae. aegypti.
