In this paper, a membership function of the form S-function is applied to improve the quality of extracted linguistic summaries. Besides, the applied algorithm is parallelized to reduce running time. Designing cantilever retaining walls is an important task in various construction projects. The study "Optimizing cantilever retaining wall design using feasibility rule-based evolutionary algorithm developed with Visual C# .NET" aims at constructing an evolutionary-algorithm-based cantilever retaining wall design approach. Differential Evolution (DE) and the feasibility rule-based constraint-handling (FRBCH) method are integrated to achieve the research objective. A DE based software program incorporating FRBCH has been developed with Visual C# .NET to facilitate its implementation.

This study uses densified mixture design algorithm (DMDA) to design the mixture proportions green mortars incorporating fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS). Three green mortar mixtures with various paste contents were designed using the DMDA method while a control cement-based mortar mixture was designed using the conventional method for comparison.

The design proposed in this thesis aims to reduce the distortion in Class-D Amplifier output at the cost of increased complexity in the implementation. The thesis is focussed on the DSP components of the unique design. State-ofthe-art FPGAs have been used as the implementation platform for these systems due to advantages such as abundant logic resources, ease of programming and re-configurability. The results demonstrate advantages of SWL processing systems in terms of efficient hardware utilization.

Model Predictive Control (MPC) refers to a class of algorithms that optimize the future behavior of the plant subject to operational constraints. The merits of the class algorithms include its ability to handle imposed hard constraints on the system and perform on-line optimization. This thesis investigates design and implementation of continuous time model predictive control using Laguerre polynomials and extends the design approaches proposed in to include intermittent predictive control, as well as to include the case of the nonlinear predictive control.

The main focus of this thesis is on the application of a model predictive control (MPC) method to devise an ABS for a BBW vehicle. Unlike the traditional ABS control algorithms which are based on a trial and error method, the MPC based ABS algorithm aims to utilizes the behaviour of the model to optimize the wheel slip dynamics subject to system constraints. Performance of the proposed wheel slip controller is validated through Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-inthe-Loop (HiL) simulation.
