The Leguminosae family is the third-largest family of angiosperms, and Caesalpinioideae is its secondlargest subfamily. A great number of species (approximately 205) are found in the Caesalpinia group within this subfamily; together with these species’ phenotypic plasticity and the similarities in their morphological descriptors, make this a complex group for taxonomic and phylogenetic studies.

Legumes are the third largest family of angiosperms and the second most important crop class. Legume genomes have been shaped by extensive large-scale gene duplications, including an approximately 58 million year old whole genome duplication shared by most crop legumes.

The Cornales is the basal lineage of the asterids, the largest angiosperm clade. Phylogenetic relationships within the order were previously not fully resolved. Fifteen plastid genomes representing 14 species, ten genera and seven families of Cornales were newly sequenced for comparative analyses of genome features, evolution, and phylogenomics based on different partitioning schemes and filtering strategies.

Chloroplasts have their own genomes, independent from nuclear genomes, that play vital roles in growth, which is a major targeted trait for genetic improvement in Populus. Angiosperm chloroplast genomes are maternally inherited, but the chloroplast’ variation pattern of poplar at the single-base level during the transmission from mother to offspring remains unknown.

Avocado (Persea americana Mill.) is a basal angiosperm from the Lauraceae family. This species has a diploid genome with an approximated size of ~ 920 Mbp and produces a climacteric, fleshy and oily fruit. The flowering and fruit set are particularly prolonged processes, lasting between one to three months, generating important differences in physiological ages of the fruit within the same tree.

MADS-box genes are key regulators of plant reproductive development and members of most lineages of this gene family have been extensively studied. However, the function and diversification of the ancient TM8 lineage remains elusive to date.

Root parasitic weeds are a major constraint to crop production worldwide causing significant yearly losses in yield and economic value. These parasites cause their destruction by attaching to their hosts with a unique organ, the haustorium, that allows them to obtain the nutrients (sugars, amino acids, etc.) needed to complete their lifecycle.

Nectar is a major floral attractant and reward for insects that ensures pollination. Liriodendron, a genus of the Magnoliaceae family, includes only two relict species, L. chinense and L. tulipifera, which are considered “basal angiosperms” according to plant evolutionary history.

The C4 photosynthetic carbon cycle can be explained as the elaborated addition to the C3 photosynthetic pathway. It is a unique series of biochemical, anatomical and regulatory gene characteristics that concentrate CO2around the carboxylating enzyme Rubisco, thereby increasing photosynthetic efficiency during high rates of photorespiration. The C4 photosynthetic pathway has evolved as an adaptation to high light intensities, high temperatures and dryness, therefore in the warmer climates of the tropical and subtropical dominating the grassland floras and biomass production.

Present survey was conducted on dodder (Cuscuta gronovii) which are occupies in different locations of Raigad and Thane districts of Konkan region of Maharashtra. Dodder (Cuscuta gronovii) is complete stem parasite. Pulses are cultivated in Konkan region during Rabi season after harvest of Kharif rice. Cuscuta causes a serious problem in pulses. The surveys were conducted for host range of Cuscuta gronovii in different locations of Raigad and Thane districts of Konkan region during 2015-2016. It was observed that 37 angiospermic host plants belonging to 14 families were parasitized by C.

In the last twenty years the growing number of studies about the reproductive biology in angiosperms has brought to light new cases of andromonoecy and androdioecy, the rarest sexual models among flowering plants. Femalesterile sexual systems, especially within order Liliales and family Liliaceae, often seem to occur in the particular form of size/age dependent sex allocation, known as “gender disphasy”.

The present study involves the flora of Balikdami Wetland and its surroundings in Sivrihisar, Eskiflehir, Turkey. This 2-year study (2002-2003) examined the plant samples collected in this region and determined that there are 51 families, as well as 250 taxa belonging to 173 genera (247 species, 1 subspecies, and 2 varieties). All of these taxa belong to the Angiosperms (201 Dicotyledons, 49 Monocotyledons) subdivision.

The evolutionary origins of nectaries and nectar are relatively obscure, but several researchers, working on a broad scale on the evolution of angiosperm families, have provided overviews of nectary incidence, diversity, origin, and function. Two contrasting examples below show how concepts regarding the origin of nectaries and nectar have been modified in the light of new information. Firstly, in his outline of the classification of the angiosperms, Armen Takhtajan (1980) gives a simple, concise statement on the purpose and origin of nectaries:...
