Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) is a medicinal plant species from the Asteraceae family. It is known to have numerous pharmacological activities, such as hypoglycemic, antistress, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial activities. This study was designed to isolate and quantitative herniarin, a well-known coumarin of chamomile. Herniarin was isolated from the chamomile absolute by vacuum liquid chromatography with n-hexane and chloroform mixed. Structure of herniarin was determined by analyzing the UV-Vis, IR, and NMR spectroscopy data.

The bio molecules present in plants can act as capping and reducing agents and thus increase the rate of reduction and stabilization of nanoparticles. Biosynthesized metal nanoparticles are more stable in nature and their rate of synthesis is faster than other methods. The present study describes the green synthesis of metal nanoparticles and their characterization.

In present study Vitex negundo leave’s extract was used to assess the antibacterial activity on cotton fabric. Extraction of phytochemicals was carried out using different solvents like ethanol and aqueous. Total phenolic content (TPC) results revealed that TPC of Vitex negundo leave’s extract were highest in case of ethanolic extraction as compared to aqueous. It was observed that mild to moderate antibacterial properties were present in ethanolic extract as compared to aqueous extract. Clear zone of inhibition was observed on cotton fabric against E coli and S. aureus.

The present investigation was undertaken for in vitro screening of antibacterial activities of different extracts (ethyl acetate, methanol and benzene) of various plant parts of Achyranthes aspera, Azolla pinnata, Cissus quadrangularis. In vitro antibacterial efficacy of plants selected was assessed by well diffusion method against pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. The ethyl acetate extract of Cissus quadrangularis exhibited highest zone of inhibition against S. aureus (25±1.3mm) followed by Achyranthes aspera (20.0±0.

The study was to investigate the antibacterial activity of some medicinal plants against Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) causing pathogens. Bacteria isolated from the UTI infected patients were characterized by microscopic, staining and morphological and biochemical evaluations. Crude extracts of the selected medicinal plants prepared were checking their antibacterial activity against the bacteria isolated from UTI infected patients. The zone of inhibitions was compared with the zone of inhibition of standard antibiotics.
