Streptococcus agalactiae (S. agalactiae) is a contagious pathogen of bovine mastitis. It has financial implications for the dairy cattle industry in certain areas of the world. Since antimicrobial resistance increases in dairy farms, natural antimicrobials from herbal origins and nanoparticles have been given more attention as an alternative therapy.

Coordination compounds containing dicyanoargentate(I) have remarkable biological potential due to their therapeutic antibacterial, antifungal, antibiofilm, and anticancer properties. In this study, a new dicyanoargentate(I)- based complex was synthesized and characterized by various procedures (elemental, thermal, FT-IR for complex) involving crystal analysis of the complex. In addition, the biological activity of this new compound on the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme, an important enzyme for the nervous system, was investigated.

Genetic language for social behavior in bacteria is mediated through Quorum sensing. This collective group behavior posses obvious advantages for the bacteria to adapt to suitable growth modes by migrating to amicable environmental conditions which makes them highly virulent and detrimental to the environment. 80% of the uncomplicated UTIs that occur in healthy individuals are due to uropathogenic E. coli which are the leading cause of morbidity.

In the current investigation, the anti-biofilm potential of Argemone mexicana and Calotropis gigantea against 11 clinical isolates viz Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococcus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris, Proteus mirabilis, Citrobacter, Serratia marcescens and Staphylococcus epidermidis were tested. The phytochemicals extracted in different solvents were analysed for their antibiofilm ability.

Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are part of the human microbiota and are also important bacterial pathogens, for which therapeutic options are lacking nowadays. The combined administration of corticosteroids and antimicrobials is commonly used in the treatment of infectious diseases to control inflammatory processes and to minimize potential toxicity of antimicrobials, avoiding sequelae.
