Dyskinesia is a movement disorder categorized by involuntary movement of muscle. Although dyskinesia can be brought on by taking medications, it can also be a symptom of a variety of diseases. Antiepileptic druginduced involuntary movements have been well researched. Rare reports have been made for dyskinesia, a type of dystonia caused by phenytoin.

Cutaneous adverse reactions (CARs) from antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) are common, ranging from mild to life-threatening, including Stevens–Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). The identification of subjects carrying the HLA-B*15:02, an inherited allelic variant of the HLAB gene, and the avoidance of carbamazepine (CBZ) therapy in these subjects are strongly associated with a decrease in the incidence of carbamazepine-induced SJS/TEN. In spite of the strong genetic associations, the initiation of hypersensitivity for AEDs is still not very well characterized.

Children with longstanding use of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) are susceptible to developing low bone mineral density and an increased fracture risk. However, the literature regarding the effects of AEDs on growth in epileptic children is limited.

Despite the immeasurable increase in understanding and improvement in diagnosis and management of epilepsy, the idea of possession by evil spirits as a cause of these frightening attacks, is still deeply rooted in many developing countries, 3,4 Sudan is not an exempt. Many children with seizures of any cause are seen and managed first by ‘El sheikh’ a religious traditional healer or in some cultures in Africa by "Al Kujour" particularly, following an antiepileptic drug failure or appearance of its side effects.

Exact evidence about incidence of sleep disorders in patients with epilepsy is not available, but it is supposed, that the amount is higher in patients with epilepsy than in general population. For example patients with partial epilepsy have twice higher appearence of sleep disorders as in healthy group (39% vs 18%) (Bazil, 2003). According to this study higher presence of sleep disorders did not correlate with antiepileptic therapy. According to Foldvary-Schaefer (2002) patients with epilepsy have problems with initialization of sleep and have worse quality of sleep.

Obtaining an accurate 24-hour-sleep-wake history is extremly important. History should be focused also on relevant factors as medical history, compensation of epilepsy, type and frequency of epileptic seizures, their incidence according to circadian cycle and actual antiepileptic medication, or other drug and medication use. Also social, enviromental or psychological conditions, which may interfere with sleep quality, should be evaluated. Neurological examination in connection with neuroimaging methods (MRI) can detect cerebral leasions as the reason of sleep problems.

Allopurinol Together with sulfonamides and antiepileptics, allopurinol is one of the "usual suspects" that induce frequently mild maculopapular eruptions (in at least 3% of users) and may also cause more severe reactions including hypersensitivity/DRESS and SJS/TEN. Because of increasing utilization it is one of the most frequent causes of life-threatening reactions. Anti-HIV Medications In clinical trials, combinations of highly active antiretroviral treatments were frequently associated with ≥10% "drug eruptions.
