In this study we extracted bioactive ingredients from fruiting bodies of Laetiporus sulphureus with different solvents and tested the antimicrobial and antitumor activities. The predominant lipid composition of the fruiting bodies was studied with GC–MS and revealed a high amount of oleic acid, octadecenoic acid and ergosterol derivatives.

In the present work, essential oil and fatty acids and extracts obtained from aerial parts of Phlomis linearis Boiss. & Bal. were investigated for chemical composition and biological activities. The phytochemical analyses were conducted with gas chromatographymass spectrometry/flame ionisation detector (GC-MS/FID) and liquid chromatography-mass spectromtetry (LC-MS/MS) techniques. The extracts and essential oil were studied for α-amylase and acetylcholinesterase activities with two different spectrophotometric methods.

The present investigation was undertaken for in vitro screening of antibacterial activities of different extracts (ethyl acetate, methanol and benzene) of various plant parts of Achyranthes aspera, Azolla pinnata, Cissus quadrangularis. In vitro antibacterial efficacy of plants selected was assessed by well diffusion method against pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. The ethyl acetate extract of Cissus quadrangularis exhibited highest zone of inhibition against S. aureus (25±1.3mm) followed by Achyranthes aspera (20.0±0.

The crude hexane, ethyl acetate and aqueous leaf extracts of medicinal plant Wrightia tinctoria R.Br. were evaluated for in vitro antimicrobial activity against selected bacterial and fungal strains. Preliminary phytochemical screening of the three crude leaf extracts revealed the presence of phenols, alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, terpenoids and sterols.

The antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of fish protein hydrolysate (FPH) prepared from Tilapia waste was evaluated. The Protein hydrolysates was prepared from tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) waste using papain enzyme under the optimum conditions viz., temperature of 50°C, pH of 6.5, E/S ratio of 1% and 60 minutes time. The prepared proteinhydrolysate was evaluated for antioxidant and antimicrobial properties in vitro at different concentrations.

The present study was planned to assess antimicrobial properties of cow urine distillate. A total of six cow urine distillates comprising of five commercially available and one prepared in the laboratory were used in present study. All these six cow urine distillates were coded as C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and P. The phenol coefficient of all six cow urine distillates was evaluated against S. aureus and E. coli. The phenol coefficients of C4 and C5 against S. aureus and E. coli were 0.04 ± 0.00 and 0.03 ± 0.00 respectively.

Since the disclosure of Biginelli reaction by the chemist Pietro Biginelli, functionalized 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones (DHPMs) have emerged as prototypes for the design of compounds with a broad variety of biological activities. This mini-review describes over 100 Biginelli adducts demonstrated to be promising anticancer, inhibitors of calcium channel, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant agents. Thus, this compilation presents the most notable in vitro and in vivo results for such fascinating class of organic compounds.

Prodrugs, the inert derivatives of existing drugs have successfully contributed to the modification of their physicochemical properties. The improved antimicrobial potential due to enhanced lipophilicity of some of the synthesized prodrugs of antibacterial agents by various schemes has already been reported. In the current study, synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of some more lipid based prodrugs/- compounds of ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin has been carried out.

The calcineurin (CaN) a and b catalytic subunit isoforms are coexpressed within almost all cell types. The enzymatic properties of CaN heterodimers comprised of the regulatory B subunit (CnB) with either the a or b catalytic subunit were compared using in vitro phosphatase assays. CaN containing the a isoform (CnAa) has lower Km and higher Vmax values than CaN containing the b isoform (CnAb) toward the PO4RII, PO4-DARPP-32(20–38) peptides, and p-nitrophenylphosphate (pNPP).

Báo cáo khoa học: Inhibitory properties of cystatin F and its localization in U937 promonocyte cells
Cystatin F is a recently discovered type II cystatin expressed almost exclu-sively in immune cells. It is present intracellularly in lysosome-like vesicles, which suggests a potential role in regulating papain-like cathepsins involved in antigen presentation. Therefore, interactions of cystatin F with several of its potential targets, cathepsins F, K, V, S, H, X and C, were studied in vitro. Cystatin F tightly inhibited cathepsins F, K and V with Ki values ranging from 0.17 nmto 0.35 nm, whereas cathepsins S and H were inhib-ited with 100-fold lower affinities (Ki 30 nm).

We have investigated the consequences of introducing a bisecting GlcNAc moiety into biantennary N-glycans. Computational analysis of glycan conformation with pro-longed simulation periods in vacuo and in a solvent box revealed two main effects: backfolding of thea1–6 arm and stacking of the bisectingGlcNAc and the neighboring Man/ GlcNAc residues of both antennae.Chemoenzymatic syn-thesis produced the bisecting biantennary decasaccharide N-glycan and itsa2–3(6)-sialylated variants.

The 3¢-processing of viral DNA extremities is the first step in the integra-tion process catalysed by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 integrase (IN). This reaction is relatively inefficient and processed DNAs are usually detectedin vitro under conditions of excess enzyme. Despite such experi-mental conditions, steady-state Michaelis–Menten formalism is often applied to calculate characteristic equilibrium⁄kinetic constants of IN.
