  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the predictive performance of three semi-theoretical approaches for modeling viscosity of binary liquid mixtures composed of 1-alcohols. For the mixtures that contain 1-alcohols with a similar number of carbon atoms, three schemes including the Rough Hard-Sphere model, the McAllister model, and UNIFAC-VISCO were demonstrated to be able to reproduce the mixture viscosity with an average deviation of 5%.

  • Diamond burnishing is an effective finishing process to enhance the surface quality and production rate of machined components. The purpose of this investigation is to select the optimal process parameters, including the spindle speed (S), feed rate (f), and burnishing depth (D) of the hybrid cooling-lubrication system-based diamond burnishing process for decreasing the average roughness (AR) and improving Vickers hardness (VH).

  • The average QES value is consistent with the previous results obtained in some back-arc regions such as Japan Sea and may suggest a similar termination age of spreading process. However, since the distribution of 90 ray paths can be roughly classified into two directions, northeast-southwest (NE-SW) and northwest-southeast (NW-SE), the average Q values of these two directions are derived to be QNE-SW = 455±109 and QNW-SE = 133±50, respectively.

  • The current study was designed with the aim to study the gross morphological features of the sternum in four dead birds of Common Moorhen. The sternum gives attachment to important flight muscles in birds. The dorsal view of sternal body of Common Moorhen was roughly pyramidal. The average length of sternal body was 4.2 centimetres. Sternal keel was highly developed. The average height of sternum was 1.1 centimetres, whereas the curvature length of keel was 4.7 centimetres.

  • The water samples of different sugar producing stages from eight selected sugar factories were collected to explore the possibility of its utilization as fresh water. Samples were collected from Fresh / Raw water; 1st body condensate; 2nd body condensate; 3rd body condensate; 4th body condensate; Pan condensate; UGR Cold; UGR Hot; ETP Inlet and ETP Outlet.

  • The field experiments were conducted to compute the Manning‟s roughness coefficient initiated during the flow in lined and unlined watercourses located at the Chhounia field near the field of AICRP on IWM and the Brick field beside the KV, Dr. RPCAU, Pusa (Bihar). The average bed slope of the lined watercourse was found to be 1.5 % whereas that of unlined watercourse was observed to be 0.2 %. . The discharge i.e. rate of water flow was determined in both the lined and unlined watercourses with the help of the weir and the Parshall flume, respectively.

  • The effect of parameters on surface roughness and DOC is obtained through main effect plot. Surface Roughness (Ra) values are measured at the wear region along cut direction. Dimensional analysis modelling for Ra is carried out to predict the model equation for Ra by Buckingham’s π –method. Comparison of model average Ra and experimental average Ra is carried out to predict the suitability of the model.

  • Silicon carbide (SiC) particulate impregnated Al 7075 matrix composite was fabricated by stir casting method and then heat treated to T6 condition. It was then machined with multiple layer of TiN coated tungsten carbide (WC) inserts in dry environment and pollution free Spray Impingement Cooling (SIC) environment to compare the machining performance. SIC environment presented better machining performance with respect to cutting tool temperature (T), average roughness of the machined surface (Ra) and tool flank wear (VBc).

  • Improving the technical parameters of the machining process is an effective solution to save manufacturing costs. The purpose of this work is to decrease energy consumption (EC) and average surface roughness(ASR) for the milling process of AISI H13 steel. The spindle speed (S), depth of cut (a), and feed rate (f) were the processing inputs. The milling runs were performed using the experimental plan generated by the Box-Behnken method approach. The relationships between inputs and outputs were established using the response surface models (RSM).

  • The results show that 74% of tourists agreed with an increase in the entrance fee and in the room rate to contribute to the implementation of the policy. Specifically, tourists were willing to pay roughly VND 37,000 more (equivalent to 61% of the current rate) for the entrance and roughly VND 181,000 (equivalent to 24% of the average rate) as an increase in the room rate.

  • Designing the equipment for processing, sorting, sizing and other post-harvesting equipment of agricultural products requires information about their physical properties. The objective of this work was to determine some of the physical properties of three different type of rice variety which may influence the rice processing operations. In this study, various physical properties of rough rice variety were determined at a moisture content of about 12% (dry basis).

  • Thus in the Intermediate Accessible group of regions the largest share of population was in Above average regions, and overall 60% of the population was in “above average” or “Accumulating” regions. It is noticeable that this is the only D-P type in which a majority of the population was in regions in the positive performance types. In the Intermediate Remote category three-quarters of the population lived in Depleting or Below Average regions. However, as we have seen, relatively few regions are in this category.

  • During the interval in which time series overlap, the British and French negative length was growing at roughly the same rates as the US one, until 1914. That war year constitutes a great discontinuity, and from then on European growth rates are different and far lower than US ones. At the same time, the average film length increased considerably, from eighty feet in 1897 to seven hundred feet in 1910 to three thousand feet in 1920. As a result, the total released length, which is the best indicator of production, increases more rapidly than the number released, in...

  • Over $4 trillion is currently managed by equity mutual funds in the U.S., with roughly 90 percent invested in actively managed accounts. These mutual funds hold over 25 percent of the outstanding equity value of the average U.S. common stock. This high level of ownership makes it very unlikely that the equity fund industry as a whole is able to outperform the market by a large margin. However, several recent papers show some evidence of manager skills among subgroups of funds (see, for example, Gruber (1996)).

  • The efficiency of fertilizer used for maize production in the major maize producing states (Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, and Nebraska) in the Mississippi River Basin increased between 1986 and 2000. Maize yields have increased about 20% from 1986 to 2000, while N fertilizer use has remained roughly constant. Between 1976 and 1986, an average of 0.023 kgN of fertilizer was applied for each kg of maize harvested. Between 1996 and 2000, an average of 0.018 kgN of fertilizer was applied per kg of maize harvested.

  • There are actually a few problems. While the DOB is harder to guess, the data isn’t exactly confidential (besides the fact that it only has roughly 16,200 possible answers (12 x 30 x between the ages of 15 and 60)), based upon possible average user demographics. Attackers attempting to brute force the answer may easily do so at an average speed of 1 guess per second, taking only 4.5 hours to exhaust them all. Which bring us to the next problem: There is no limit on the number of guesses an attacker may try before the account is locked...

  • The official definition of poverty for the U.S. population uses money income before taxes and does not include capital gains or noncash benefits (such as public housing, Medicaid, and SNAP). The definition is based roughly on historical estimates of the portion of an average household’s income required to purchase a “minimally nutritious diet” (about 30% in the early 1960s).

  • Although the Flow of Funds data are available only after 1945, it is clear from Figure 3 that the market value of NYSE companies as a fraction of the market value of all U.S. companies has been remarkably constant. The total market value of all domestic corporations is about 1.45 times the market value of NYSE companies. Notice that these values are very close for the entire post-World War II period — not only on average but at peaks and troughs too. If we assume that the ratio is roughly 1.45 in the pre-World War II period as well, we can use the NYSE values to...
