In this study, we isolated rice endophytic bacteria and selected strains that have antagonistic activity against Dz for application in controlling the foot rot disease. The endophytic strain VY81 isolated from stem of a rice plant with foot rot disease was studied in details since it had prominent antagonistic activity against Dz.

Mangrove is one of the highly productive ecosystems and contains diverse plants and microbial communities. Bacterial endophytes from mangroves are considered as a prolific source of biological molecules with important functions in the protection of mangrove plants against herbivores, insects as well as pathogens.

Engineering of plant rhizosphere with beneficial plant growth promoting (PGP) bacteria offers a great promise for sustainable crop productivity. In this context, 49 rhizospheric/endophytic bacterial isolates were purified using N-free medium, screened in vitro for PGP characteristics and evaluated for their beneficial effects on the early growth of maize (Zea mays L.).

Objectives: The aims were to evaluate the effects of some selected endophytic bacteria strains on growth, development of Robusta coffee in a greenhouse and in field conditions. Based on these results, further studies were conducted to determine the effective dose and compatible combination of these strains on the growth and yield of the coffee in the field.

This study aims to find antagonistic bacteria that are able to provide the highest resistance to the growth of pathogenic Xoo bacteria in rice plants. Antagonistic bacteria were isolated from the leaves and roots of rice plants through surface sterilization and serial dilution. Obtained 53 bacterial isolates consisting of 20 bacterial isolates from leaves and 33 bacterial isolates from roots tested hypersensitive to tobacco plants for filtering potential non-pathogenic bacteria.

The plant-microbe interaction effect of these bacteria, either singly or in combination, on growth and development of maize (Malviya Hybrid Maize 2) were also studied. The results reveal that the combination of BHU8 with RRE3 proved to be most beneficial and efficient with regards to many of the growth parameters like shoot and root length, number of leaves, shoot and root fresh weight, shoot, root dry weight and chlorophyll content.

Now a day’s world population is facing several health problems caused by bacteria, virus, fungus, protozoan and other micro-organisms which could be due to drug resistant or parasitism and generates an alarming situation to world population for their survival. The requirement for novel and beneficial compounds like antibiotics, chemotherapeutic agents and agrochemicals to offer assistance in several aspects of the human life is ever increasing that are very effective and having negligible or very low toxicity to the environment.

The aim of this study was to isolate, characterize and identify endophytic bacteria from plants growing along the stream banks in Hot Springs, South Dakota. The bacterial endophytes were isolated, identified and screened in vitrofor morphological features (Gram stain, Gram morphology, and colony morphology). Further, isolates exhibiting difference in morphological features were selected for molecular identification through partial 16S-rRNA gene sequencing.

Endophytic nonrhizobial bacteria, Chryseobacterium indologenes, Endophytic non rhizobial bacterial stain AM2 was isolated from root nodules of Vigna radiate. The bacterium was Gram-negative, yellow pigmented, nonspore forming, motile and oxidase positive. Phylogeny of 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that the strain belonged to the genus Chryseobacterium, a member of family Flavobacteriaceae.

Endophytic bacteria are the association of bacterial microbe resides inside the plant tissues. They are reported to alleviate several biotic and abiotic stresses of plant. They are also found to be promote growth of plant through their several functional attributes viz., nitrogen fixation, phosphate solubilization, siderophore production and by producing plant growth regulators.

An investigation was carried out to isolate bacterial endophytes from small millets that have the ability to produce phytohormones like indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), gibberellic acid (GA), cytokinin and1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) deaminase. Thirty two bacterial endophytes are isolated from small millets and among thirty two isolates, twenty isolates produced indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in the range of 96.70 μg to 254.95 μg and the isolate KMS1 produced significantly highest concentration of IAA (254.95 μg) followed by FMR3 (231.87μg).

The present study was conducted to evaluate bacterial endophytes against Pythium spp. causing soft rot of ginger. Water soaked lesions at the emerging base and the collar region was the typical symptoms observed on infected plants. Sprout appeared pale yellowish and withering off of plant was seen and such rhizomes were rotten and emitted foul smell in which diseased plants came off with a gentle pull.
