The aim of this study was to demonstrate and evaluate the diatom communities in the copper infected areas readily associated with the Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) at the bank of the Subarnarekha River. This study was based on three sampling sites commonly designated as high copper (>100 μg.L-1 ), medium copper (≤100 μg.L-1 ) and low copper (≤50 μg.L-1 ) contaminated area. Results indicated the detailed taxonomic description of 31 species that are dominant or less dominant over these contaminated area. Among the identified taxa, 10 were recorded as new to the Jharkhand state.

Agriculture remains the mainstay of Indian economy. The major contribution for the Indian agriculture is supported by the marginal and small farmers. Agriculture is most important for the sustainable development. Until 1935, the major sources of funds for the farmers were the professional money lenders. Due to their unduly high rate of interest, farmers were heavily burdened with debts, which lead to the riots and even miserable suicides. Amylase producing thermophilic bacterial strain was isolated from Jeori hot water spring, Rampur Bushahr of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, India and identified as Bacillus thuringiensis J2 using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and deposited in NCBI gene bank vide accession number |KY990713|. Medium components and process parameters were optimized with respect to substrate concentration, carbon sources, nitrogen sources, incubation period, pH and temperature for an enhanced amylase production.

The present investigation was carried out during 2005-06 in four randomly selected cooperative branches of District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB) of Raipur district. Majority of respondents were regular in repayment of their loan. Correlation analysis between independent and dependent variables also reveals that socio-economic status and extension contact shows positively and highly significant and remaining variables exhibited non-significant relationship with loan repayment performance of respondents.

An Investigation on physico-chemical properties, NPK and micro nutrient status of soils of Janpad major, Left bank canal, Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP), Telangana, India was carried. The soils are having clay content ranging from 6 to 24 per cent, silt content from 4 to 20 per cent and sand content from 69 to 87 per cent. The Hydraulic conductivity varied from 15 to 20 cm day-1 with a mean value of 17.5 cm day-1 . Mostly the soils under the command area are slightly acidic to slightly alkaline and non-saline in nature.
