Barriers and resistance to change
-
Resistance change becomes pulse-like as the samples are bent and/or twisted, attributed to the rapid increase in intertube spacing. Straining induces movements and segmentations of tube aggregates with tube mobility ranging at 0.1e90 nm/s. Intertube barrier driven sensing mechanism is viscoelasticity related and is therefore interpreted on the basis of spring-dashpot models.

The aims of this paper are to investigate the barriers and the sources of resistance to change in hotel firms and to evaluate the change in strategies adopted in seeking to overcome these barriers. Primary data were gathered through in-depth semi-structured interviews in nine hotels in the UK. The findings indicate that the cost of change, financial difficulties and the pressure of other priorities are the main barriers to change in hotel firms. The findings also indicate that hotel companies use multiple change strategies in overcoming barriers to change.

Ce (III) salt-activated CeO2 nanoparticles were incorporated into waterborne epoxy coating to improve the UV stabilisation of epoxied system. The surface morphology of the coatings was examined by using color spectrophotometer during the UV exposure test. The degradation of the epoxy coatings was observed by the change of barrier property determined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The effect of activated nanoparticles on the impact resistance and adherence properties was also evaluated by impact strength test and cross-cut test.

Blades and vanes for gas turbines, usually made of Ni-based superalloys, are exposed at very high temperature in severe oxidation and corrosion environments. Nowadays, thermal barrier coating systems (TBCs) have been applied to protect them against such severe working conditions. In this study, Pt and PtIr diffusion coatings on Ni based single crystal superalloys were fabricated by an electroplating method followed by an annealing heat treatment process. The microstructure and phase constitution of the coatings were studied by SEM/EDS and XRD methods.

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines telemarketing as the marketing of goods or services by telephone. It’s a word that was added to the dictionary back in 1980, when it became obvious that the telephone was changing the way companies did business. In general, people are busy. They don’t want to be both- ered by others trying to sell them products or services that aren’t needed. A successful telemarketer can quickly capture the attention of the person he or she is calling and prove to that person that what you’re offering could be beneficial.

This Fourth Edition of the Dictionary of Architecture & Construction defines more terms in architecture and building construction than any other dictionary in the English language. Because there have been significant changes, advances, and new developments in building materials and services, construction techniques, engineering practices, specifications writing, environmental concerns, community regulations, legal requirements, and other areas over the last decade, a total of 2500 new terms, as well as 100 new illustrations, have been added to this edition.

More specifically, we must further examine health beliefs, and food beliefs and practices that have symbolic or traditional importance to determine how knowledge, beliefs and attitudes translate into eating behaviour in older adults, especially at advanced ages. More research is needed to clarify the relative contribution of income, ethnic background and other personal predictors of healthy eating – self-control, emotions, resistance to change, time constraints, lack of knowledge – and environmental factors governing food availability and cost.

Today’s banking and trading institutions realize they must move and move quickly to capitalize on new business opportunities in wireless banking and trading. Resistance to the implementation of wireless banking can lead to major losses at the business and market share levels. Wireless service soon will be a necessity for the end-user. Although many technological barriers need to be overcome, it is imperative to embrace the change. Wireless banking and trading is only an extension of the product offerings for the financial institutions.
