  • Green gram (Vigna radiata L.) is one of the important pulse crops in India. It is widely cultivated throughout India in three different seasons. Eight genotypes of green gram viz, Pusa Vishal, PM-11-9, IPM-2-3, Meha (IPM 99-125), Samrat, IPM-512-1, TMB-37, SML-1822 were primed with GA3 and Ag-nanoparticle for six hours. The laboratory experiment was done in seed testing laboratory, BCKV, West Bengal during 2019 & 2020.

  • An experiment was carried out in Rasomati forest of Pundibari range of West Bengal, India in respect to the variation in bacterial and fungal populations. The mean colony forming unit (cfu) of bacteria was 6.02 whereas average fungi colony forming unit (cfu) was 5.31. It was observed that Gram -ve bacteria was found higher as compared to Gram +ve. The genus Aspergillus and Penicillium was recorded highest percentage as per the counting of colonies. Over all soil were sandy loam to clay loam and slightly acid in all sites with mean pH 6.24 and the percentage of organic carbon was 1.96%.

  • The study of sensory parameters for stored samples of Bengal gram, gram dhal and gram flour in different were observed at every interval of 30 days. Samples were kept in laminated LDPE bags under different packaging conditions i.e. vacuum packaging, modified atmosphere packaging and ambient conditions for 120 days. The effect of packaging on the sensory parameters of stored samples viz., colour, appearance, flavor, texture, taste and overall acceptability were found by 9 point Hedonic Scale.

  • This paper analyses the growth rates and instability indices of major pulses in Andhra Pradesh. Decomposition analysis was carried out to measure the relative contribution of area and yield to the growth in total production of major pulses. The study period has been divided into two sub periods for the purpose of analysis of growth rates and decomposition analysis viz., 1995-96 to 2005-2006 and 2005-06 to 2015-16. Growth rate analysis showed that both the production and yield of major pulse crops were positive whereas the area was positive except for green gram and black gram.

  • The respiration rates of fresh Bengal gram kernels as a function of O2 and CO2 concentration at 300 C in closed system is studied on the basis of enzyme kinetics. Parameters of three types of Michaelis-Menten equation based on type of inhibition were considered. GraphPad PRISM software was used to find parameters of respiration rate of fresh Bengal gram kernels inform of Michaelis-Menten. The competitive type of inhibition was found as the best type for respiration rate of fresh Bengal gram kernels.

The present study was conducted to assess the impact of frontline demonstrations Bengal gram crops conducted in the Central Plateau Region of Maharashtra and the Malwa plateau of Madhya Pradesh.   • The experiment was conducted in the ‘A-B’ Block Farm of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya situated at Kalyani, Nadia, West Bengal during both summer and kharif seasons of 2016 with an objective to study the seasonal variation in incidence of insect pests on two varieties of black gram viz. Pant U-31 and Pant U-19 as well as their relationship with abiotic factors in the lower Gangetic plains of West Bengal. The results revealed Aphis craccivora, Bemisia tabaci, Megalurothrips distalis, Maruca vitrata, Helicoverpa armigera, Spilarctia obliqua as the major pests of the crop.
