Antizyme is a polyamine-induced cellular protein that binds to ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), and targets it to rapid ubiquitin-independent degradation by the 26S proteasome. However, the metabolic fate of antizyme is not clear. We have tested the stability of antizyme in mammalian cells. In contrast with previous studies demonstrating stability in vitro in a reticulocyte lysate-based degradation system, in cells antizyme is rapidly degraded and this degradation is inhibited by specific proteasome inhibitors. ...

Diagnostic tests by molecular biology is made for studying the relations among Fusarium species for linking production of proteins, degree of relationship and occurrence of malformation. Determination of proteins for isolates causing-disease by SDS-PAGE explained there’s specific band for each fungus and there are common bands among some isolates of fungi. Since, band with MW 30 KDa represented only in F. proliferatum and F. oxysporum and F. subgluti-nans respectively. This band considered as specific band for these isolates, which released high patho-genisity effect.

OprM, the outer membrane component of the MexAB-OprM multidrug efflux pump ofPseudomonas aeruginosa, hasbeenassumed to facilitate the export of antibiotics across the outer membrane of this organism. Here we purified to homogeneity the OprM protein, reconstituted it into lipo-somemembranes, and tested its channel activitybyusing the liposome swellingassay. Itwas demonstrated thatOprMis a channel-forming protein and exhibits the channel property that amino acids diffuse more efficiently than saccharides....

O-Glycosylation of three consecutive Thr residues in a fluorescein-conjugated peptide PTTTPLK)which mimics a portion of mucin 2)by four isozymes of UDP-N-ace-tylgalactosaminyltransferases (pp-GalNAc-T1, T2, T3, or T4) was investigated. Partially glycosylated versions of this peptide, PT*TTPLK, PTTT*PLK, PT*TT*PLK, PTT*T*PLK, PT*TTPLK, andPTTT*PLK(*,N-acetyl-galactosamine;, galactose), were also tested.

Intrinsic factor (IF) is the gastric protein that promotes the intestinal uptake of vitamin B12 . Gastric IF from animal sources is used in diagnostic tests and in vitamin pills. However, administration of animal IF to humans becomes disadvantageous because of possible pathogenic transmis-sion and contamination by other B12binders. We tested the use of recombinant plants for large-scale production of pathogen-free human recombinant IF. Human IF was successfully expressed in the recombinant plantArabidopsis thaliana....

Cold shock proteins (CSPs) form a family of highly conserved bacterial proteins capable of single-stranded nucleic acid binding. They are suggested to act as RNA chaperones during cold shock inhibiting the formation of RNA secondary structures, which are unfavourable for transcription and translation.

To test the role of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase on the telomerase activity, we determined the telomerase activity in leukemic cells K562 treated with benzamide and 4-amino 1,8 naphthalimide (NAP), the inhibitors of PARP. We observed that both the agents inhibited telomerase activity in a dose-dependent manner. The doses of benzamide and NAP that inhibited telo-merase activity to 50% of untreated control cells were 10.7 ± 0.6 mmand 200 ± 7lm, respectively.
