Forensic anthropology builds upon the skills developed within physical anthropology which focus on human osteology. The aim is to allow the bones to "speak," to allow the deceased to tell a story about who they were, how they lived and how they died. Our ability to "listen" depends largely upon our willingness to understand the principles by which the body is formed, how and why humans may vary phenotypically, and how the body responds to the environment in which it lives and dies.

Blunt thoracic aortic injury (BTAI) is associated with very high mortality, and managing currently favors thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair (TEVAR) if feasible, especially BTAI due to high energy force, where patients usually suffer from polytrauma, which requires rapid discover and treat spontaneously.

Blunt abdominal trauma is associated with a variety of medical complications. Traumatic abdominal wall hernias (TAWHs) are a rare sequela of blunt trauma. Of the various forms of TAWH, a rare subtype described as a “spontaneous lateral ventral hernia” or flank hernia occurs in less than 1% of all blunt abdominal traumas.

Hollow viscus and mesenteric injury (HVMI) in blunt abdominal trauma (BAT) accounts for about 1-5% and requires early surgery to avoid dangerous complications. We aimed to to determine the value of abdominal CT scans in the diagnosis of blunt abdominal trauma with hollow viscus and mesenteric injury.

The medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve is a branch of the brachial plexus that contains C8–T1 segments. Injury of this nerve by various mechanisms has been reported in the literature; however, currently, there is no reported case of medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve injury in the setting of acute blunt trauma.

Uncertainty persists regarding the optimal ventilatory strategy in trauma patients developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This work aims to assess the effects of two mechanical ventilation strategies with high positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) in experimental ARDS following blunt chest trauma.

A 2 years old domestic shorthair tom was presented with history of unknown blunt trauma which led to intestinal prolapse. Upon clinical examination, part of the prolapsed intestinal tissue was necrotic. The case was unusual and treated surgically under general anaesthesia. Intestinal resection and anastomosis followed by colopexy was done to prevent recurrence. The case recovered uneventfully.

We reported 2 clinical cases of internal mammary artery injury following blunt chest trauma. General features of both cases are sternal body fracture, subcutaneous emphysema, severe hemothorax and severe hemorrhagic shock. All patients were diagnosed and treated promptly. After surgery with pleural drainage, excellent outcomes and stable status were seen in both patients at the time of discharge.

Longmire, called it a "hostile" organ because it welcomes malignant cells and sepsis so warmly, bleeds so copiously, and is often the ?rst organ to be injured in blunt abdominal trauma. To balance these negative factors, the liver has two great attributes: its ability to regenerate after massive loss of substance, and its ability, in many cases, to forgive insult. This book covers a wide spectrum of topics including, history of liver surgery, surgical anatomy of the liver, techniques of liver resection, benign and malignant liver tumors, portal hypertension, and liver trauma.
