Bone cancer treatment
-
Bone tumors account for approximately 6% of all cancers in children. Malignant bone tumors, commonly occurring in children and adolescents, are associated with high mortality and morbidity. The overall survival of children with primary malignant bone tumors is affected by the stage of disease, time of diagnosis, and treatment response.

Breast cancer (BrCa) is a predominant malignancy, with metastasis occurring in one in eight patients, nearly half of which target the bone, leading to serious complications such as pain, fractures, and compromised mobility. This study aims to assess the efficacy of CTRA in monitoring osteolytic lesions’ progression and response to therapy, suggesting its potential superiority over existing methodologies in guiding treatment strategies.

Central conventional chondrosarcoma (CS) is the most common subtype of primary malignant bone tumour in adults. Treatment options are usually limited to surgery, and prognosis is challenging. These tumours are characterised by the presence and absence of IDH1 and IDH2 mutations, and recently, TERT promoter alterations have been reported in around 20% of cases.

Breast carcinoma is a common tumor in women, but it rarely metastasizes to the oral region. Furthermore, metastases to the oral region occur mainly to the maxillary and mandibular bone and rarely to soft tissue.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary malignancy of bone tumors. More and more ARHGAP family genes have been confrmed are to the occurrence, development, and invasion of tumors. However, its signifcance in osteosarcoma remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to identify the relationship between ARHGAP family genes and prognosis in patients with OS.

Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone cancer that affects mostly children and young adults. Despite the advances in osteosarcoma treatment, the long-term survival rate of metastatic patients has not significantly improved in the past few decades, thus demonstrating the need for novel therapeutic targets or methods to improve metastatic osteosarcoma treatment.

Extending adjuvant endocrine therapy (ET) beyond the standard 5 years ofers added protection against late breast cancer recurrences in women with early-stage hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer. Little is known about treatment persistence to extended ET (EET) and the role that genomic assays may play. In this study, we evaluated persistence to EET in women who had Breast Cancer Index (BCI) testing.

Bone sarcomas are rare tumors representing 0.2% of all cancers. While osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma mainly affect children and young adults, chondrosarcoma and chordoma have a preferential incidence in people over the age of 40. Despite this range in populations affected, all bone sarcoma patients require complex transdisciplinary management and share some similarities.

Osteoblastic bone reaction (OBR) refers to an increase in bone density at the site of bone metastasis or the appearance of new sclerotic bone lesions after anticancer treatment. OBR can be misunderstood as disease progression. In this study, we aimed to investigate the prevalence and details of OBR and its association with clinical outcomes in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with osimertinib.

Radiation therapy plays an important role in the treatment of lung cancer. Although adverse effects of radiation are well known, they are sometimes difficult to be diagnosed. We report a case of a radiationassociated vertebral compression fracture which mimicked bone metastasis of lung cancer.

A novel polycaprolactonee zeolite nanocomposite Y (PCL - Zeol) scaffold was fabricated as a carrier for sustained release of cisplatin (Cis) for bone cancer treatment. In this regard, after synthesis of Zeol with a proper morphological uniformity, Cis was loaded with a high loading capacity into the cavities of Zeol nanoparticles.

In patients with bone metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (bmCRPC) on systemic treatment, it is difficult to differentiate between continuous rise of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) representing progression, and PSA-surge, which is followed by clinical response or stable disease.

Prognostic indicators, treatments, and survival estimates vary by cancer type. Therefore, disease-specific models are needed to estimate patient survival. Our primary aim was to develop models to estimate survival duration after treatment for skeletal-related events (SREs) (symptomatic bone metastasis, including impending or actual pathologic fractures) in men with metastatic bone disease due to prostate cancer.

Although chondrosarcoma is the second most common primary malignant bone tumor, treatment options are limited due to its extensive resistance to a chemo- and radiation therapy. Since shikonin has shown potent anticancer activity in various types of cancer cells, it represents a promising compound for the development of a new therapeutic approach.

Multiple myeloma remains an incurable disease with multiple relapses due to residual myeloma cells in the bone marrow of patients after therapy. Presence of small number of cancer cells in the body after cancer treatment, called minimal residual disease, has been shown to be prognostic for progression-free and overall survival.
