The investigation of magnetic field strength variations over subterranean layers may reveal their locations on Earth’s surface and provide physical and geometrical characteristics. Magnetic studies were carried out around Gölcük caldera lake using proton magnetometers to identify subsurface volcanic structures. The acquired data were inverted using four different edge detection algorithms such as analytic signal, tilt angle, theta map, horizontal gradient. Afterwards, the results were used to determine the locations of the anomalous structures.

This research presents identification technique of robot geometric parameters and its joint deformation joint angle. The target of the paper is comparison of two cases 1) only geometric calibration and 2) geometric and joint deformation angles calibration. Simulation calibration is performed on a Hyundai 800 robot which is designed for carrying heavy loads. The robot position accuracy after calibration demonstrates the effectiveness and correctness of the method.

In this paper, a model derived based on the discrete computational method is proposed to calculate the shear strength of column carried by multi-spiral transverse reinforcement, accounting for the effect of compression depth. Furthermore, based on this model, a method is proposed to predict the failure mode of multi-spiral columns.

The wettability of Sn-8Zn-3Bi lead free solder alloy on the copper substrate was evaluated via measuring the contact angle of the solder and the substrate. The measured contact angle was then compared to the contact angle of the traditional and widely used eutectic Sn-37Pb solder alloy. Experiments to study the effect of temperature, flux, and surface roughness of the substrate on the contact angle were also carried out.

With the exception of normal anatomic changes in the medial collateral ligament and radial head, other factors related to carrying angle changes have not been systematically studied. We reviewed patients who underwent open arthrolysis of the elbow, and evaluated if open arthrolysis could change carrying angle. We then identified factors associated with carrying angle changes.

In this work, a theoretical study for platinum(II)-8-hydroxyquinoline-tetrylene complexes [{PtCl–C9H6NO}–NHEPh] (Pt–EPh) is carried out for the first time by using the density functional theory (DFT). Quantum chemical calculations with DFT and charge methods at the BP86 level with basic sets SVP and TZVPP have been perfomed to get insight into the structures and property of Pt–EPh.

The side-shift offset rotavator was a newly introduced implement in the field of interculture operations, especially for the orchard crop. The commercially available implement was equipped with J shape soil cutting blades. Those blades were replaced with L shape blades due to their undesirable outcomes. The testing was carried out separately for both types of blades at a fixed tilling depth of 9.6 cm. In this study, the type of cutting blade, kinematic parameter and soil moisture were the considered as the explanatory parameters.

A miniature X-ray source has been optimized for electronic brachytherapy. The cooling fluid for this device is water. Unlike the radionuclide brachytherapy sources, this source is able to operate at variable voltages and currents to match the dose with the tumor depth. First, Monte Carlo (MC) optimization was performed on the tungsten target-buffer thickness layers versus energy such that the minimum X-ray attenuation occurred. Second optimization was done on the selection of the anode shape based on the Monte Carlo in water TG-43U1 anisotropy function.

A computational algorithm is developed for estimating accurately the attitude of a robotic arm which moves along a predetermined path. This algorithm requires preliminary input data obtained in the static mode to yield phase observables for the precise, 3-axis attitude determination of a swinging manipulator in the dynamic mode. Measurements are recorded simultaneously by three GPS L1 receivers and then processed in several steps to accomplish this task.

Microwave remote sensing or SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data has been employed extensively to map open water bodies and to monitor flood extents, where cloud cover often prohibits the use of satellite sensors operating at other wavelengths. Where total inundation occurs, a low backscatter return is expected due to the specular reflection of SAR signal on the water surface. However, low local incidence angle and wind induced waves can cause a roughening of the water surface which result in a high return signal.

This paper reports the design, fabrication and characterization process of the trapezoidal Electrostatic Comb-drive Actuator (ECA) with the slope angle α = 2◦ . This investigation was carried out under an external magnetic field fixed at 4 kOe to ensure for all the Co-granule magnetization being kept in a fixed incident light propagating direction. Results showed a rather remarkable angular dependence of T(φ) on the Co content for different wavelengths. This article is dealing with the study on the heterogeneous graft-reaction of maleic anhydride onto polyethylene. The reaction was carried out on the brabender mixer extruder. The optimal reaction conditions were found as follows, the temperature: 190o C, the reaction time: 6 minutes, the screw speed: 60 r/min., the %weight content of PE, MA and DCP: 80, 1.5 and 0.2, respectively. The success of the reaction was confirmed by the IR-spectroscopy, contact angles measurements and mechanical property testing.
