The objective of the present work is to study the irradiation effects on third generation SiC fibers which fulfill the minimum requisites for nuclear applications, i.e. Hi-Nicalon type S, hereafter HNS, and Tyranno SA3, hereafter TSA3. With this purpose, these fibers have been ion-irradiated with 4 MeV Au ions at room temperature and increasing fluences.

Nuclear metrology is an essential aspect to consider for further improvements of the initial characterization of sites under decommissioning. The H2020 Euratom project INSIDER in June 2017 aims at improving the management of contaminated materials arising from decommissioning and dismantling (D&D) operations by proposing an integrated methodology for radiological characterization.

The synthesis, structural identification of four novel cobalt and ironbased metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), named VNU-10 (cobalt-based MOF), VNU-15 (iron-based MOF, VNU = Vietnam National University), Fe-NH2-BDC and Fe-BTC have been done by single crystal x-ray diffraction. Full characterization and application of VNU-10, VNU-15 were undertaken, while preliminary characterizations have been done for Fe-NH2-BDC and Fe-BTC.

Guanosine triphosphate nucleotide analogues such as GppNHp (also named GMPPNP) or GTPcS are widely used to stabilize rapidly hydrolyzing protein-nucleotide complexes and to investigate biochemical reaction pathways. Here we describe the chemical synthesis of guanosine 5¢-O-(c-amidotriphosphate) (GTPcNH2) and a new synthesis of guanosine 5¢-O-(c-fluorotriphosphate) (GTPcF). The two nucleotides were characterized using NMR spectroscopy and isothermal titration calorimetry. Chemical shift data on 31P, 19F and 1H NMR resonances are tabulated.

Cytochrome c is widely distributed in bacterial species, from mesophiles to thermophiles, and is one of the best-characterized redox proteins in terms of biogenesis, folding, structure, function, and evolution. Experimental molecular biology techniques (gene cloning and expression) have become applicable to cytochrome c, enabling its engineering and manipulation. Heterologous expression systems for cytochromes c in bacteria, for use in mutagenesis studies, have been established by extensive investigation of the biological process by which the functional structure is formed. ...

Tocopherols are essential micronutrients in human and animal nutrition due to their function as lipophilic anti-oxidants. Theyare exclusively synthesizedbyphotosynthetic organisms including higher plants. Despite the attributed beneficial health effects and many industrial applications, research on the tocopherol biosynthetic pathway and its regulation inplants is still limited.

Numerous gel-free proteomics techniques have been reported over the past few years, introducing a move from proteins to peptides as bits of informa-tion in qualitative and quantitative proteome studies. Many shotgun pro-teomics techniques randomly sample thousands of peptides in a qualitative and quantitative manner but overlook the vast majority of protein modifi-cations that are often crucial for proper protein structure and function.

The study and therapeutic modulation of purinergic signaling is hindered by a lack of specific inhibitors for NTP diphosphohydrolases (NTPDases), which are the terminating enzymes for these processes. In addition, little is known of the NTPDase protein structural elements that affect enzymatic activity and which could be used as targets for inhibitor design.

Cholesterol oxidase is a bacterial FAD-containing flavooxidase that catalyzes the first reaction in cholesterol catabolism. Indeed, this enzyme catalyzes two reactions: the oxidation of the C3 -OH group of cholesterol (and other sterols) to give cholest-5-en-3-one; and its isomerization to cholest-4-en-3-one. In the past several years, the structural and functional characterization of choles-terol oxidase has been developed together with its application as a biological tool.
