Pulse beetle (Callosobruchus chinensis L.) invasion results qualitative and quantitative losses of chickpea seeds during storage. Most of the synthetic chemicals used as preservative are having adverse effects. Therefore, insecticidal potential of Lantana camara L. essential oil (LcEO) was evaluated to find out an eco-friendly substitute of synthetic pesticides.

The lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica is a serious pest of stored grains. Fumigation and contact insecticides play a major role in managing this pest globally. While insects are developing genetic resistance to chemicals, hormonal analogues such as s-methoprene play a key role in reducing general pest pressure as well as managing pest populations that are resistant to fumigants and neurotoxic contact insecticides.

Knowledge of the natural and potential variation in the tolerance of natural enemies to pesticides may improve the design of robust IPM strategies by extending the role of biological control in some agricultural systems and by increasing the number of available compounds to control diseases and key, secondary, and invasive pests. There are a number of excellent revisions on pesticide resistance in natural enemies.

In-vitro compatibility studies of B. bassiana (Bb-5a) with ten insecticides were examined on PDA media by poisoned food technique to develop suitable combinations for the control of whitefly in sunflower ecosystem. Out of ten insecticides, nine insecticides viz., imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, acetamiprid, clothianidin, acephate, fipronil, buprofezin, flonicamid and azadirachtin showed compatible with B. bassiana at recommended dose (RD), half of the recommended dose (0.5 × RD) and double the recommended dose (2 × RD) at 14th and 30th DAI.

The human population on the planet is estimated to reach 9 billion by 2050; this requires significant increase of food production to meet the demands. Intensified farming systems have been identified as a viable means to increase grain production. Crop production inputs include carbon investment in the form of energy, for the manufacture and use of farm machinery, synthetic fertilizers, crop protection chemicals such as herbicides, insecticides and fungicides, groundwater irrigation and the direct use of fuel in farm operations.

Plant protection is an important part of crop cultivation, in which chemical method is most effective to control insecticide in comparison to other methods. Chemicals are usually spread on plant through sprayer and duster. Duster is mostly used for dense foliage crops to kill insect using insecticides in form dust powder having particles size (1-10μm). Indian farmers mostly use belly mounted hand rotary duster for dusting. It is traditional method of dusting which have many limitations.

Soil represents one of the most diverse habitats for more than a thousand million bacterial species present on the earth. The maintenance of soil quality, fertility and structure is essential for the protection of the biodiversity and integrity of terrestrial ecosystems. Introduction of anthropogenic chemicals into soil may have lasting effects on soil microbial activities and thus soil health. Chlorpyrifos is a broad spectrum organo phosphorus insecticide, displaying insecticidal activity against a wide range of insects and other arthropod pests.

Insect pest is one of the major Earias vittella is one of the important pest of okra and its management is also difficult for its insecticidal resistance mechanism though few chemical and bioagent are effective against fruit borer. Insecticidal like quinalphos, monocrotophos, fenvalerate, deltamethrin, Flubendiamide etc. are effective to manage this insect. Combination of these insecticides is also effective and also able to overcome Insecticidal resistance mechanism.
