Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a benign inflammatory disease involving the progressive and irreversible destruction of the pancreatic tissue, fibrosis and loss of exocrine and endocrine function. Clinical management of CP is also challenging because of the incomplete understanding of disease and pain pathogenesis. In Hue Central Hospital, CP is primarily treated with open drainage procedures.

Regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) proteins were originally identified as negative regulators of G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling via their GTPase-accelerating protein (GAP) activity. All RGS proteins contain evolutionarily conserved RGS domain; however, they differ in their size and regulatory domains. RGS1 and RGS10 are smaller than other RGS proteins, and their functions involve various inflammatory responses including autoimmune responses in both the periphery and the central nervous system (CNS). Neuroinflammation is the chronic inflammatory response in the CNS.

Obesity is a low-grade chronic inflammatory disease associated with an increased number of macrophages (adipose tissue macrophages) in adipose tissue. Within the adipose tissue, adipose tissue macrophages are the major source of visfatin⁄pre-B-cell colony-enhancing factor⁄nicotinamide phos-phoribosyl transferase.

Background: Dercum’s disease (DD) is characterised by obesity and chronic pain ( 3 months) in the adipose tissue. The pathogenesis of DD is unknown, but inflammatory components have been proposed. In previous reports and studies, an inconsistent picture of the histological appearance of the adipose tissue in DD has been described. The aim of this investigation was to examine the histological appearance of adipose tissue in patients with DD, with particular focus on inflammatory signs. Methods: Fat biopsies were sampled from painful regions from 53 patients with DD.

FDA cho phép dùng thuốc mới Remicade (infliximab) cho việc điều trị bệnh viêm ruột Crohn’s disease. Remicade là một loại thuốc do điều chế kháng thể đơn dòng (monoclonal antibody). Thuốc giảm hiện tượng viêm bằng cách ngăn chặn yếu tố tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). FDA Approves Remicade for Children with Crohn’s Disease The Food and Drug Administration today approved Remicade (infliximab) to treat children with active Crohn's disease, a chronic, inflammatory condition of the bowel that can be severely debilitating.

Candidiasis: Treatment Treatment involves removing any predisposing factors such as antibiotic therapy or chronic wetness and the use of appropriate topical or systemic antifungal agents. Effective topicals include nystatin or azoles (miconazole, clotrimazole, econazole, or ketoconazole). The associated inflammatory response accompanying candidal infection on glabrous skin can be treated with a mild glucocorticoid lotion or cream (2.5% hydrocortisone).

Psoriasis (Table 53-2) Psoriasis is one of the most common dermatologic diseases, affecting up to 1% of the world's population. It is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder clinically characterized by erythematous, sharply demarcated papules and rounded plaques, covered by silvery micaceous scale. The skin lesions of psoriasis are variably pruritic. Traumatized areas often develop lesions of psoriasis (Koebner or isomorphic phenomenon). Additionally, other external factors may exacerbate psoriasis including infections, stress, and medications (lithium, beta blockers, and antimalarials).

In any FUO workup, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) should be determined. Striking elevation of the ESR and anemia of chronic disease are frequently seen in association with giant-cell arteritis or polymyalgia rheumatica—common causes of FUO in patients 50 years of age. Still's disease is suggested by elevations of ESR, leukocytosis, and anemia and is often accompanied by arthralgias, polyserositis (pleuritis, pericarditis), lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, and rash.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disease primarily of the joints that, if lelt untreated, results in functional disebility concordant with radiographic progression. It is well recognized that strking pathogenic similarities exist between periodontitis and RA. Proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factoralpha (TNF a) and interleukin (IL) as well as microbial enzymes and host matrix metalloproteianses (MMP-8 and -9) appear to play important roles in both conditions....
