Climate change on cropping pattern
-
A wheat growth model that includes the direct responses of canopy photosynthesis and transpiration to elevated CO2, and the response of crop growth to water stress has been developed and tested. Sensitivity analyses show that different cultivars have quite different responses to changes in ambient air temperature, ambient CO2 concentration and rainfall. Because crops reach maturity earlier under higher temperature, an increase of 3 oC may not impose further water stress to growth of a wheat crop.

Setting up water-saving irrigation strategies is a major challenge farmer‟s face, in order to adapt to climate change and to improve water-use efficiency in crop productions. However, there is an increasing need to strategize and plan irrigation systems under varied climatic conditions to support efficient irrigation practices while maintaining and improving the sustainability of ground- water systems.

Global climate change is a change in long term weather pattern that characterised by the region of the world. Human activities, especially the burning of the coal and oil, have warmed the earth by increasing the concentration of the heat trapping gases. The impact of warming can be observed in changing weather patterns. Climate change is already affecting human health, ecosystem. Agroforestry has been recognized as a means to reduce CO2 emissions as well as enhancing carbon sinks.

The study was undertaken to study the changes in land use pattern of Uttar Pradesh and its different agro-climatic zones. Land is one of the most essential natural resources for the survival and prosperity of humankind, and it is the platform on which human activities take place. The study is based on the secondary data obtained from the various issues of statistical abstracts of UP government. The study revealed that net sown area declined in the state as a whole and also in almost agro-climatic zones viz.

Climate change has emerged as the most serious environmental challenges. It is necessary to evaluate its impacts on climate-vulnerable development sectors, such as agriculture. Human impacts on environment have resulted in altered environmental conditions that influence changes in abundance and diversity of insect pests. In the present study, an attempt was made to determine the impact of changes in the climatic conditions on grape crop in Tasgaon tehsil. Various weather parameters like rainfall, temperature and relative humidity were analyzed in the region.

The study was carried out in seoni district of Madhya Pradesh to assess the effect of Climate change on cropping pattern of vegetables. Six villages of Seoni block were selected on the basis maximum area under vegetable crops. Total 120 vegetable growers were selected by simple random sampling method. The study reveals that more than half of the vegetable growers had medium socio-economic status and half of the vegetable growers had low level of knowledge towards climate change.

Climate is the primary determinant of agricultural productivity. Climate change effects agricultural operations in a number of ways, including through changes in average temperatures, rainfall, and climate extremes. Concern over the potential effects of longterm climatic change on agriculture has motivated a substantial body of research over the past decade. The present study was conducted in Dharwad districts of Karnataka state during 2016-17.

The Indian Sundarbans is a coastal delta and major climate hotspot located in the state of West Bengal. The delta faces significant climatic challenges. The residents mainly depend on agriculture, livestock rearing and fishing. They face challenges of poverty, marginalization and an acute struggle against geo-climatic events. The present study was conducted to know the socio economic status of the farming community under the given resources viz. demographic, physical, economic, natural and social.

Remote sensing has several advantages in the field of agronomical research purpose. The assessment of agricultural crop canopies has provided valuable insights in the agronomic parameters. Remote sensing play a significant role in crop classification, crop monitoring and yield assessment. The use of remote sensing is necessary in the field of agronomical research purpose because they are highly vulnerable to variation in soil, climate and other physico- chemical changes.
