  • The indicators of climate change in Central Europe, Hungary is showing a trend of decrease in rainfall, increase in temperature and especially extreme weather that is becoming more usual and unpredictable. The current study presents the application of the MIKE SHE model to examine the role of unsaturated soil settings and the effects of climate change on various hydrological parameters and water balance components.

  • High temperature stress at reproductive stages of cotton crop severely affects the yield and quality of cotton crop under changing climatic conditions. To alleviate the adverse effects of high temperature stress on cotton crop, the regulatory effects of potassium (K), zinc (Zn), and boron (B) were assessed by applying different temperature regimes at three reproductive stages of cotton crop under field and glass house conditions.

  • Flow and sediment budgetof the Mekong River (MR)is of typical importance for the sustainability and survivability of the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD) in the context of sea level rise due to climatic change. The VMD is sinking and shrinking due to rapidly morphologicaldegradation caused byaltered flow regime and reduced sediment supply from the MR as the result of upstream hydropower dams’ development

  • Understanding the genetic architecture of temperature adaptation is key for characterizing and predicting the effect of climate change on natural populations. One particularly promising approach is Evolve and Resequence, which combines advantages of experimental evolution such as time series, replicate populations, and controlled environmental conditions, with whole genome sequencing.

  • The lower section of Ma river system is facing complicated salinization, depending on its morphology, slope, tide regime and the increasing effect of climate change. As a result, for effective exploitation of fresh water (salinity ≤ 1.0‰) it needs to take care of the impact of tide regime on rivers’ salinization. Using data of “History of the tide” of Thanh Hoa Hydrometeorology center in some details to limit damages in water supply for irrigation and living of residents in coastal districts of Nga Son, Hau Loc, Hoang Hoa, Quang Xuong, Sam Son city and Thanh Hoa city

  • Dong Nai Province has abundant surface and groundwater resources. However, in recent years, due to the impact of climate change, there have been unusual changes, hot weather has occurred in the rainy season, rainfall has been distributed. Climate change strongly affects water resources in all aspects: flooding, changing water levels, saline intrusion ... Changes in water resources will affect related areas: changes in exploitation, using and managing, adjusting and changing policies and laws related to water resources.

  • Variability in climate regimes of rainfall and temperature is a source of biotic and abiotic stresses in agricultural systems worldwide. This study examines seasonal and annual rainfall and temperature variability in rice, wheat and jute crop productivity for five decades (1972–2012) under long-term fertilizer experiment in alluvial soils of eastern India. The climatic variations and impacts were captured using a standardized precipitation index (SPI), diurnal temperature range (DTR) and crop productivity index (CPI).

  • Science and technology have had unprecedented impact on economic growth and social development. Knowledge has become a source of economic light and power. This has led to increased restrictions on sharing of knowledge, to new norms of intellectual property rights, and to global trade and technology control regimes. Scientific and Technological developments today also have deep ethical, legal and social implications. The study was conducted in Haryana State. Four districts, two each form eastern and western agro climatic zones were selected randomly.

  • Anthropogenic activities have been the main cause of perceived global warming later in the middle of 20th century. Tillage intensive and highly mechanized traditional agriculture production system has been identified responsible for soil erosion hazards, surface and groundwater pollution, and more water consumption. As a result, the agricultural production system is becoming unsustainable.

  • Afield experiment was conducted at National Seed Project, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bengaluru (Karnataka) during 2017-18 to study the effect of sowing time under changing climatic condition and standardization of date of sowing in finger millet. Seven popular varieties of finger millet (short duration GPU-48; medium durationGPU-28 -GPU-67, INDAF-7 and ML-365; long duration MR-1 and MR-6) were planted in RCBD at every month. The observations were recorded at monthly intervals and results were analyzed using suitable statistical tool.

  • The study applied the PRECIS and SWAN modelling packages to simulate wind and wave regimes under climate change in the Vietnam East Sea. The results indicated that under RCP4.5 climate change scenario, by the end of the century, there are significant changes in both wave height and wave period in summer and winter months. In the East Sea during July, wave height is expected to increase 11.5% while wave period expected to increases 3.3%. On the other hand, wave height in January is projected to decrease approximately 7% while wave period in the same month is projected to decreases 4.4%.

  • To trust in one’s rational faculty means to question and to endure doubt. Sometimes the fear of doubt can be stronger than the fear of death, when extreme doubt leads someone to be receptive to the extreme certainty of a violent ideology – the most fashionable of which (though by no means the only one) is currently radical Islamism. The attraction of radical Islamism is similar to the psycho- logical appeal of other secular totalitarian ideologies of the 20th century, in that it dispels all doubt.

  • The meteorological archive contains what is believed to be the longest continuous daily climate series from a single site in the UK and Ireland and one of the longest in the world. The climate station has been continuously maintained since 1795, with readings currently taken every day at 09:00 (GMT). Calibration of these data has enabled researchers and government agencies to use the Armagh series for reports and research into global warming. This is a subject of strategic importance for Northern Ireland as we move into an era of rapid climate change.

  • The late Neogene (the period between − 14 and − 2.4 Ma) is one of the most interesting phases in understand the present conWguration of terrestrial ecosystems. It was during this time that the change took place from the middle Miocene dominant subtropical forests that stretched across southern Europe and western Asia to a more open but still wooded biotope that now prevails in warm–temperate areas. This change in vegetation, which strongly aVected the composition of mammalian faunas, seems to be linked to the rapid spread of grasses around 8–10 Ma ago....
