  • In this study, New Zealand and Finland are examined by Autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model for the relationship between coal consumption and economic growth. For coal consumption and economic growth relationship, coal Kuznets curve is investigated for New Zealand for the period between 1980 and 2015 and is examined for Finland for the period between 1980 and 2013. Results of this study show that coal Kuznets curve is confirmed for New Zealand and Finland. Hao et al. (2016) confirmed coal Kuznets curve as this study confirmed in New Zealand and Finland.

  • The study centers around one of the principal challenges of the Polish economy - the development of prosumer renewable energy sources. Poland has the biggest portion of coal inconclusive energy utilization. The development of renewable energy sources is the main test even with environmental protection challenges and EU pressure. Right now, Poland data are taken from World Development Indicators (WDI) of Prosumer renewable energy, nonrenewable energy, economic growth and analyze the effect of prosumer renewable energy under the EKC hypothesis.

  • The grey relation coefficients are subjected to principal component analysis to derive the principle component scores which represent the aggregated response of multiple output variables. Finally, response surface methodology is implemented by considering the input parameters of Blast Furnace as factors and PCA score as response to analyze the impact of input parameters on the Blast Furnace performance.

  • The reactions form chains and rings of alumino-silicate networks in geopolymeric structures. The raw materials used for geopolymerization normally contain high SiO2 and Al2O3 in the chemical compositions such as meta-kaoline, rice husk ash, fly ash, bottom ash, blast furnace slag, red mud, and others. The geopolymer-based material has potentials to replace Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)-based materials in the future because of its lower energy consumption, minimal CO2 emissions and lower production cost as it utilizes industrial waste resources.

  • Although MECS data report that coal supplied only 10 percent of the pulp and paper industry’s energy requirements in 2002, NEI data show coal as contributing to 43 percent of the sector’s energy-related CAP emissions. As MECS reports more than 50 percent of the sector’s energy coming from “other” fuels (which includes biomass), NEI data show that biomass (wood waste) is a less emissions-intensive energy source than coal. For wood products, combustion of wood/bark waste is the dominant energy-related source of CAP emissions.

  • Under the reference case scenario, CEF projects that the pulp and paper industry’s energy consumption will continue to be dominated by renewable fuels (primarily biomass) and natural gas, though renewable energy sources will grow at the expense of natural gas, coal, and petroleum as the industry continues to reduce its demand for purchased fuels. Economic energy intensity (energy consumption per dollar value of output) is expected to decrease at the rate of 0.

  • Hydrogen and synthesis gas (syngas) are indispensable in chemical, oil, and energy industries. They are important building blocks and serve as feedstocks for the production of chemicals such as ammonia and methanol. Hydrogen is used in petroleum refi neries to produce clean transportation fuels, and its consumption is expected to increase dramatically in the near future as refi ners need to process increasingly heavier and sour crudes.

  • Now-a-days, dealers of natural resources like fuel, coal etc. are facing a hard time to keep pace with the increasing demand. At one hand, there are more cars or motor vehicles are dominating the transport medium, on the other hand these cars are being dominated by the fuel. As a result, the limited resources are being quashed by the producers and dealers to satisfy this need which is leading us to an uncertain future with having the scarcity of fuel and minerals. So, it is clear that present trends in energy consumption, especially oil, cannot be sustained much longer. Again,...

  • This book is concerned with the subject of Wind Energy, as a source of clean and renewable and free for all. The need for this type of book is very well documented, the current consumption of energy is unsustainable and humans have to change their habits and or utilise this source, but there is so much work before we can rely completely on renewable energy. This book aims to describe the fundamentals of wind energy and the pertinent parameters that control the amount of energy available from a given wind turbine. Coal fuelled the industrial revolution in the 18th and 19th century.
