This investigation aims to compare the full energy peak efficiencies in the energy range of 46-1836 keV on a type-p coaxial HPGe and estimate the coincidence summing factor for the case of Marinelli Beaker samples used by two general Monte-Carlo simulation software MCNP and PENELOPE.

In this study, an in-house 152Eu calibration source was produced from a custom epoxy matrix with a density of r ¼ 1.14 g cm3 , which is chemically stable and durable form after its solidification. The homogeneity of 152Eu in matrix was obtained better than 98%. For a Marinelli beaker geometry, an efficiency calibration procedure was applied to a n-type, coaxial, 78.5% relative efficient HPGe detector in the energy range of 121.7e1408.0 keV by using in-house 152Eu calibration source.

The cross-sections for the formation of 89Nb and 90Nb radionuclides in proton induced nuclear reactions on zirconium were measured by using the well known activation method. The natural zirconium (natZr) target and copper (natCu) monitor foils were irradiated by 27.7 MeV proton beam at the MC50 Cyclotron of the Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Science (KIRAMS), Korea. The induced gamma activities of the reaction products were measured by a coaxial high purity germanium (HPGe) detector coupled to a PC-based multichannel analyzer.
