Collections of ovaries

The efficiency of Oocyte collection by aspiration method was assessed. A sum of 980 caprine ovaries were collected from local abattoir and used for the present study. Out of these ovaries a total of 3243 oocytes were collected. Out of which 2254 culturable oocytes were selected under stereomicroscope. The total number of oocytes and culturable oocytes recovered per ovary were 3.2 and 2.4 respectively 30%of the total population comprised fully and partially denuded oocytes which were not used.

The present study was undertaken to assess the damage caused by heavy metals, arsenic and chromium in slaughtered buffaloes. The assessment of adverse effects of these heavy metals in tissues (Liver, kidney, pancreas, and ovary) and blood have been determined by the expression of metallothionein, antioxidants and biochemical parameters. Tissue and blood samples were collected from buffaloes (n=50) from local abattoir to assess the level of arsenic and chromium.

In this study, oocytes were recovered from 200 numbers of goats’ ovaries from different slaughterhouses for subsequent use in-vitro maturation, enucleation, reconstruction and embryo culture to produce cloned embryos. The collected oocytes were classified into three categories (Grade A, B and C) based on their appearance of homogenous granular ooplasm and layers of cumulus cells surrounding oocytes under a stereozoom microscope. The average oocyte recovery, In-vitro maturation and the enucleation rates were found to be 3.36 per ovary, 60.37 per cent and 75.52 per cent respectively.

A study was taken up to know the effect of corpus luteum (CL) on the oocytes retrieval, quality in buffalo ovaries. Ovaries were collected from apparent healthy slaughtered buffalo during breeding season and categorized based on the presence (or) absence of CL. The cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs) were aspirated aseptically from the follicles of >6 mm diameter present on the surface of the ovary by using 18 G needle attached to 5 ml disposable syringe containing 2 ml of collection media.

Jewels of Opar (Talinum paniculatum) is a herbaceous plant known for its highly medicinal value. This medicinal plant is listed in the Red List of Vietnam’s medicinal plants and in the handbook of Vietnam’s medicinal plants, both documents warranting its necessity for protection. Jewels of Opar contains bioactive substances such as phytosterols, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, and many other inorganic substances. Jewels of Opar plants collected in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, are tree-like herbs, their green trunks grows straight up and then branch out.

In the present study, experiments were conducted to assess the effects of caffeine on in vitro fertilization of pig follicular oocytes. Cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were collected from porcine ovaries from slaughterhouses, cultured in in vitro maturation medium 1 (IVM1) at 38.5 độ C for 20-22 hours and then in in vitro maturation medium 2 (IVM2) for the next 24 hours.

The female reproductive system is composed of the external and internal genitalia. The external genitalia (Fig. 2-1) are collectively termed the pudendum or vulva and are directly visible. The internal genitalia include the vagina, cervix, uterus, uterine (fallopian) tubes, and ovaries (Figs. 2-2 and 2-3). Special instruments are required for inspection of the internal genitalia.
