  • This study aimed to identify the effects of safflower genotypes for individual and combined effects of PEG 6000 and NaCl stress imposed at early seed germination stages, determine correlation coefficients among traits of safflower genotypes under stress treatments, and interpret the interrelationship of treatments × safflower genotypes interaction by principal component analysis.

  • Lecture Mechanics of materials - Chapter 10: Design and failure. The main contents of the chapter consist of the following: the stress formulas give both the correct magnitude correct direction for each stress component if the internal forces and moments are drawn on the free body diagrams as per the sign conventions...

  • Combining ability analysis was done in Line X Tester mating design by using 7 lines, 3 testers and 21 F1‟s in a randomized block design with two replications during 2013-14 in sowing under water stress and non-stress environments. The analysis of genetic components revealed that both additive as well as non-additive components were prevalent for the control of grain yield and its components under both water stress and non-stress environments except spike length in under stress environment.

  • In the present study, an overall appraisal of GCA effects revealed that RH0735 and BPR349-9 in normal environment and RH0116 and RH0555A in late sown environment were good general combiner for majority of the characters. High GCA effects are related to additive gene effects or additive x additive interaction which represent the fixable genetic component of variation. Hence these parents could be efficiently used for exploiting seed yield.

  • Combining ability analysis for yield and its component under late sown condition in bread wheat involved ten diverse parents and their 45 F1s and their F2s indicated significance differences among the parents for gca and crosses for sca for all characters under studied. The GCA and SCA components of variances in both generations showed significant for all traits indicating additive and non additive gene action controlled the pattern of inheritance for the concern traits over the both generations.

  • Studies were conducted to determine the gene action for heat adaptive traits and grain yield under heat stress condition by using the hybrids generated in L×T and NCD-II. The results revealed predominance of non-additive gene action for heat stress adaptive traits in both the experiments.

  • A plant’s microbiota has various implications for the plant’s health and performance; however, the roles of many microbial lineages, particularly Archaea, have not been explored in detail. In the present study, analysis of archaea-specific 16S rRNA gene fragments and shotgun-sequenced metagenomes was combined with visualization techniques to obtain the first insights into the archaeome of a common salad plant, arugula (Eruca sativa Mill.).

  • The effects of uncertainty factors on SIFs were deducted from sensitivity analyses and, based on the similarity and conservatism compared with detailed finite element analysis results, the R6 code, taking into account the applied internal pressure and combination of stress components, was recommended as the optimum procedure for SIF estimation.

  • We study time variation in expected excess bond returns. We run regressions of one-year excess returns on initial forward rates. We find that a single factor, a single tent-shaped linear combination of forward rates, predicts excess returns on one- to five-year maturity bonds with R2 up to 0.44. The return-forecasting factor is countercyclical and forecasts stock returns. An important component of the returnforecasting factor is unrelated to the level, slope, and curvature movements described by most term structure models.
