Internal combustion engines (ICEs), especially diesel engines, continue to play a huge role in the development of the global economy. The research trends to improve combustion is still the main research direction in recent years with the help of 3D simulation tools. In this study, a 3D-model of a four-stroke, single-cylinder diesel engine was built using AVL Fire software to evaluate the influence of injector geometry parameters on engine characteristics.

Magnetic bearing systems have received much attention in the research community for the past decades. Its inherent nonlinearity and open-loop instability present challenges for controller design. This thesis investigates and designs model predictive control (MPC) systems for an experimental Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) laboratory system. A host-target development environment of real-time control system with hardware in the loop (HIL) is used for implementation of the predictive control systems. In this thesis, both continuous and discrete time model predictive controllers are studied.

3D animation software is extensively used to create graphics for special effects sequences in live-action films, in animated feature film production and for the generation of computer games and virtual reality content. It is a commonly held view within the computer graphics community that 3D animation software is ―just another tool‖ for self-expression. In this thesis, focus on the wireless links between devices equipped by deployed operating personnel and intermediary access point infrastructure. We use multi-radio (MR) platforms, wireless devices with multiple and diverse transceiver technologies, to produce robust and reliable links through adaptive control of available transceivers. This paper presents a hybrid method that combines the genetic algorithm (GA) and the ant colony system algorithm (ACS), namely GACS, to solve the traffic routing problem.
